Would you take a scholarship to play a non Big 3 sport at a rival school?

You have the choice of attending your preferred SEC school on a full ride and not playing a sport or taking a full scholarship to a rival SEC school to play anything other than football, baseball, or basketball. What would you do and why? Also, what sport?

Whooo off-season.

Of course I'd go to another school.

I'm going to do what I want to do...

I'm not going to sacrifice what I want to do for an institution.

I like LSU, but I like me more.

Bama, no.

FL, UGA, A&M, Vandy - probably.

The rest, maybe.

In that scenario, it comes down to what I see myself doing or wanting to do as far as a career goes. Based on that, which school offers me a better academic and networking opportunity.

You're thinking soundly. I like it.

If it came down to UGA and UF, it would be hard. Athens is like home. But UF, though different, offers some great academic opportunities. Now, Vandy? I'd pack my bags yesterday for a full ride at Vandy.

It would have to pay tuition + full living expenses to even think about it.

Yeah, that exactly what I'm trying to get at. How deep is the rivalry.

it would ultimately depend on how good I was at the non Big 3 sport.

if I was good enough to make a career out of it then yeah, I probably would. if I wasn't that good, then I wouldn't and focus on academics.

LSU is a rival, so yes. In a heartbeat.

hell yeah, especially if it was a sport where I'd still have time to succeed in my major, party a good bit, and possibly get in a red shirt year so I can take my time in my major a little bit.

If it came down to me doing what I want to do (play a sport and get a scholarship), and not playing a sport and not getting a scholarship to go to LSU, I'd turn on LSU in a second.

Not because I don't like LSU, but because I'd rather do what is best for me.

Being a "fan" of something isn't that serious.

I strongly dislike Alabama, but if they offered me something and created a better opportunity for me to succeed, I'd go there. If I was playing a sport, I'd compete against LSU and do everything I could to kick their arse.

Glad you added the "SEC school" qualifier cause I wouldnt go to Texas for anything.

That said, I would go to any SEC school if offered a full ride playing rugby. With preferences given to Florida, Georgia and Bama. Though Im fairly certain no one in the SEC offers full rides for rugby..

I would take the scholly to play golf or tennis at another SEC school. I would bet that has to be cool to be playing at cool courses for an SEC caliber team. I wouldn't take a scholly to run track or XC at a school other than Arkansas because that is our thing and I would feel like a traitor (if that makes sense).

Already happened for me... I bailed on UF for bama back in 98, but for actually for athletics. I had no desire to do another 4 years with my old coach, who took the florida job end of my senior year. Looking back I should send him a thank you card
