Those 5 SEC teams would have had the same results against Notre Dame. UGA may have put up more points and UF might have had fewer but the results would have been the same. Total dominance and blowout. I have never seen a bigger flop from such a highly praised defense. Vanderbilt hits harder and plays with more passion than Notre Dame. Much more than obviously over-rated T'eo (or whatever his name is). The only guy I was impressed with was Nix and even he got blocked pretty bad on several plays by Barrett Jones. But he was the only one that played heart and passion. Its that high level boom that they lack. I even remember Ole Miss coming into Tuscaloosa this year and hitting hard. That's just SEC ball. Notre Dame was soft. The fact that they were undefeated tells you a lot about the rest of the country. Is Stanford, who beat Oregon and lost to ND, any better than 6th in the SEC? I don't think they are.

pretty hard to disagree

Bama plays LSU/A&M/UGA

all very very close games or a win in one instance

Bama destroys ND

common sense would say the teams that played Bama tough during the reg season would do close to the same to ND

ND's schedule really flopped when you look at it as a whole.

Michigan- extremely meh. I think they finished like 24th.

Miami- sucked

Stanford- legit good team that they escaped in OT.

OU- exposed as being very overrated. Demolished in their bowl game

USC- finished unranked at 7-6.

Their schedule just going by names looked like a murderer's row, but honestly they only played like 2 good teams. And they needed some down to the wire escapes against some average to bad teams. You could tell all year they were a pretender.

I agree with you that LSU, UGA, SC, a&m, and UF would all beat ND. Which just makes our SECCG loss that much harder to swallow knowing that we could've had the same result on Monday.

Sad thing is it was this close to the SEC being left out irregardless of SEC title game.

It would have been Oregon or Kansas St vs Notre Dame or even an unbeaten Ohio St would have left out SEC.

With new 4 team playoff the SEC champ deserves automatic entry into 4 team playoff.

I agree with all except UF. How they won as many games this year with such an abysmal offense is mind boggling.

Agree with the OP. Congrats to Bama for winning, but ND was a terrible opponent. The bias in the polls and computers to undefeated teams with a crap SOS needs to be addressed.

You can't fault Notre Dame for the schedule though, on paper at beg of year it was pretty daunting - neutral site Miami, on road at OU and USC. No conf champ game though.

Not so sure about Florida. Do you think Louisville manhandles ND or were they just a bad match-up with Florida, or Florida just playing uninspired in the Sugar Bowl?

UF's offense has only one thing that it was decent at, running the football. That was it.

The margin of error was extremely low. UF had to run the football to win.

I know there were quite a few people on this board who believed that Alabama would blow Notre Dame off the field, but I'm amused at how some people in the media who were calling the upset are now saying Notre Dame had no business being in that game to begin with.

ND didn't seem to be too adept at stopping the run.

It wouldn't have been a given that we would have beaten them.

look I know LSU shite the bed last year but after the game some of those same national morons were saying Okie State should have been there over UNDEFEATED LSU

so those people are seriously some of the dumbest people on the planet. Trust me, I've worked with a couple, amazes me they can dress themselves to leave the house, truly stupid folks

Excellent post.

Totally agree. T'eo and Co. were an over-hyped joke.

I believe that Ole Miss should be in that list as well with the way they finished their year.

You have to have an SEC team in the championship game every yr no matter how many losses they have. Even on a bad yr the SEC's top 3 teams would destroy damn near anybody. The new system is not going to change anything either. Same philosophy on who the top 4 are going to be to play each other. Theres going to be 2 SEC teams in those 4 every yr almost. Dominance from the SEC is going to go on for a while!
