Staying? Going to FSU? Retiring?

According to Lucky at BOL he thinks Burns is "leaning" towards going to FSU, but has not made a decision. Who knows.

This is me speculating but I'm beginning to think that some of the older assistants are getting tired of the CNS grind. I've read where Bobbby Williams probably won't be with us as a coach any more and now Burns. I'm not meaning any of this in a negative way--that there is some animosity or something between Saban and the assistants. I don't believe that at all. I think he and Saban get along fine, but doing what Saban wants can take its toll. If you can make more money and work less, then why not leave. He's got the rings. Why not get ready for retirement? It sort of makes sense to me from that standpoint. Hell, Lucky said that Saban called a meeting at 3 PM on Christmas day. Grandpas don't like that shite and I can't really blame him if that's what is going on.

I love what BB has done for our program. He's been great for our RB's and our LA recruiting. But it's no secret that BB is one of our lowest paid assistants. I'd think BB will get a counter offer to stay for what he's been able to do. If it's only money then hopefully we'll match it. But if it's something else and he leaves, we'll be okay. I'm sure most of us realize that.

I think Bobby Williams is just calling it a career as a coach. He coached in the NFL, was a HC, had a perfect bowl record as a HC, and picked up more than a few NCs along the way. More importantly, he got to coach his son and watch him graduate, after seeing his older daughter do so years earlier at the Capstone. That's a life's work at only 54.

And as long as Saban/Moore isn't Barry Alvarez with assistant money, Burns will likely have a better offer on the table at Bama. And if the rumor is true he plans on retiring next year, can't see why he'd take 1 year at FSU.

I'd love to keep him. He's obviously doing a great job. Our RB's and RB recruits really seem to like him.

Yeah, that would be strange.

Oh I know, they're great friends.

On side note, how many coaches will Jimbo try to leech from us before it's all said and done? I fully anticipate an announcement in the near future that Jimbo has asked for Mrs. Terry's hand in marriage. (Saw that one on BOL )

He's playing with fire in a way. Sal, Pruitt, Burns...all from Bama. It's shameless. You'd think he'd be a little more confident in his ability to pick out a good assistant that didn't come from Saban. Speaks volumes about him imo. I have a feeling he's going to find out the hard way that one he really needs ain't coming to FSU to hold his hand.

True, there is nothing magic or secret about the process, only one man focused and committed enough to make it work. 24/7 is loosely used except in one place by one man.

Hope so. Bama's RB's have been good these last few years. I hope they give him a raise.

Burns has wanted to cut back on his hours. Probably just a way to get some more money and accomplish his goal of a cut back in hours.
