It was debated that USC and LSU were "dynasties"

Can anyone deny Alabama is a dynasty in modern football, ignoring their decorated past?

It pains me to say they are. Saban is simply the best

The current run by Alabama is the closest thing to a dynasty in the BCS era... and can probably be said to be a dynasty, at that.

They are clearly the dominant team in CF, nobody else is close. Dynastic.

You know they lost to LSU in 2011 and Texas A&M in 2012, and played close games in 2012 against LSU and Georgia, right? There are plenty of teams that are close, unless I misunderstand what you mean by "close."

Alabama is definitely the runaway pick for a dynasty if we must declare one, sure, but they're a little vulnerable for me to feel comfortable saying outright that they're a dynasty.

You need undefeated seasons to be a true college football dynasty. That is the precedent that has been set.

90s Nebraska 3 undefeated seasons
80s Miami 2 undefeated seasons
50s Oklahoma 3 or 4 undefeated seasons

SUre they can be a dynasty. The great thing about dynasties is that as sure as they rise, they fall.

When you win 3 of 4 BCSNC's, you're a dynasty. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. Plain and simple.

I think they are a dynasty.

4 BCS Bowls in 5 years, 3 NCs the last 4 yrs.

Impressive

Yes, this current run is a dynastic one.

What makes this one more impressive, though, is that it is also in the middle of a conference dynasty. Winning 3 NCs in 4 years during a span when any number of teams from your own conference can stand up and win them (and have)? THAT'S impressive.

It's going to be a while. They'll dominate the SEC competition next season. They only play four road games, and have an extra week to prepare for what is likely to be their toughest test at A&M.

With a month to prepare and top talent at their disposal, few coaches could challenge Saban's Bama team of the present. Pete Carroll? Jim Harbaugh? Urban Meyer? The latter has the best shot (because the others have taken their proven talent to the big league), but for now, it's Bama running the BCS show until it ends next season.

Playoffs, with less time to prepare for a team, and tough games back to back, will bring a different level of difficulty to winning a Championship in the post-BCS era. But when they ask who the greatest team of the BCS era was, there's no doubt it was and is Bama.

I am crowning their asses. Sue me.

For the 2nd straight year they've won the BCS while being the 2nd best team in their conference. Congrats!

The first dynasty since Nebraska. But all dynasties come to an end.

False. They were not the second best team either year.

The wierd thing is that Bama isn't really dominating the SEC; they are just winning (or others are losing) when it truly matters. Last year they lost in the regular season but were able to get back in due to other conferences sucking. This year they had three games that could have gone either way; losing the only one they could to still make the MNC. if LSU or UGA had won instead of aTm, Bama would not be here today.

But a lot of teams are in that position each year. Saban and Bama deserve credit and deserve to be called a dynasty for the results on the field and the hardware in their possession: 1 Heisman winner, 2 SEC championships, 3 MNC, 4 BCS game wins, 5 ten win seasons

And they got lucky with scheduling. Had A&M not played Florida when the coaches didn't know what Johnny could do... or if he had a warm up game? Does anyone think Florida stands a chance against Johnny Football if it wasn't that perfect storm? No. That being said, Alabama beat all the teams i was better than, and lost to the only team it wasn't as good as. A&M can't say the same. Consolation prize is the SEC streak continues.
