Here's the truth of the matter as I see it. We are in a third tier of programs whether it's basketball or football. And I don't mean that in a negative way. In my eyes, you have the top tier of teams that have multiple national championships and top 10 recruiting classes are the norm more than the exception. In football you have the Bama's, ND's, USC's etc...of the world. In basketball, you have the UK's, NC's and Duke's of the world. The second tier are teams that put a good product out there, have won an occasional national championship, routinely finish in the top 25 in football, have multiple Final 4's or Elite 8's and have recruiting classes in the top 25. Schools such as OU, Florida State and Clemson in football and Louisville, Cincinnati and Michigan State in basketball. In that next tier are teams that year in and year out can be every bit as good as the teams in the tier above them but have never been able to put together a national championship season or a final four season. That is where I see Mizzou until we do make it to a national championship game in football or a final four in basketball.

Here is the correct truth. We are neither. Sometimes that is a good thing (even fan support across both programs). Sometimes it is not (not standing out in either one). Usually when people ask what we are, I say that we are both, and that we are unique in that. But thats not an excuse not to win.
