If Chip Kelly goes to the NFL, Gus woulda been the ideal coach at Oregon and that team is loaded up with his kind of players in a conference thats ideal for it.

Considering he's never left the southeast in his coaching career, he's coaching at the school where he's had the most success, and the SEC > Pac 12, he's probably happy

I'd say he's found his destination job and is grateful for it and will do his best work here. Or at least it won't be for lack of trying.

Never said Gus was an idiot and didnt mean to imply it. However, for somebody, maybe Chad Morris, Oregon could be a very sweet deal. And you wouldnt have LSU and Alabama in the same division.

Why? He likely would've accepted the Auburn HC job before the Oregon one.

What's even worse is Arkansas fans are convinced if he has success at Auburn and Bielema does not work out, that they could steal him away from us.

This. The Auburn job is 10x better than the Oregon job ever will be. Even with the poor shape of our athletic department. All thanks to the massive amount of money our AD takes in every year.

With Phil Knight, Nike and their money I don't know if I would agree with this.

Depends on where you are from. If I was a west coast coach I would prefer the Oregon position. If I forged my path through the South, I would prefer Auburn.

Has a lot to do with attitude and culture of the regions. Lived in the West for awhile and it is way different out there

I'm sure Gus is kicking himself in the arse over it.

I thought we were supposed to wait until the bowls were over to start the silly season.

Damn, you dumb.

I don't think that him leaving for arky is that far fetched.

I'm not sure he would, but of all the off the wall things arky fans believe i think that one is the most probable.

Oregon wouldn't hire Malzahn. He doesn't have the recruiting connections to succeed there. Auburn and Arkansas are the two best cfb jobs for Malzahn. Also, he may ultimately suck as a HC on the top level.
