But if Mett had just hit that wide open guy on second down for a first down the game would have been over. It was an easy, wide-open target and they were both moving to the right.
Championship QB's make that throw 100 out of 100 times.
I think Mett didn't crash and burn as bad as Brantley, but clearly, we can now look at his stats, 12 TD to 7 INT, 200 YPG, 59% completions and say that he was probably one of the more over-hyped players in the SEC during the preseason in recent memory by any single fanbase.

Why not run it on 2nd and 3rd down to force Clemson to burn timeouts?

Can you imagine how bad LSU would have been blown out if Clemson's RB was injured early in the game?
Can you imagine how bad LSU would have been blow out if this injury didn't cause a turnover that led to an easy cheap score for LSU?

I didn't mind the call on 2nd down. But I didn't understand why they didn't run on 3rd down. At least then Clemson would have to waste one time out.

Well, like I said, the coaches were monumentally foolish not feeding Hill over and over. Honestly, the normal Les Miles philosophy is to just run it over and over and over, so I don't know why they got away from that, especially with such a mediocre QB.

They should have definitely run on at least one of those plays. If they had run on all 3 and then punted they may have even won.
Still, it was an easy throw. It needed to be made if they wanted to win.

Had Sammy Watkins not been injured LSU would have been murdered last night.
That defense was just not good enough in the secondary, and I stand by the statement that Reid is the most overrated defensive player in the SEC.
