Vandy will always be Vandy, and nobody gives a rat's arse about Vandy. Their stadium sucks, their team sucks, their fans suck, they just suck.

James Franklin can eat a wang, that old incognegro is overrated and his come-uppins are imminent, I bet my ex-wife's naked pictures on it.

People want to talk about pathetic, delusional SEC fan bases. I vote Tennessee. "Big 4" like hell! You people haven't done anything lately, your team sucks, it could barely beat Troy, your school is just OK, you hired two clowns in a row as head coach and the first clown thought Tennessee was so awesome that he left after one season. What in the hell do you have to be boastful about?

If I were a Tennessee fan, I'd be on my hands and knees praying that James Franklin decides not to stay at Vanderbilt. If he does and succeeds at his current rate, they will be able to call themselves a Top 25 team at a Top 25 school and could recruit nationally and get any in-state recruit who can meet the academic standards.

Which that point, Tennessee is finished for a generation.

Just a hint from fan bases more accustomed to winning.

One should avoid crowing too loudly if their glorious 8 win regular season failed to include a team with more than a .500 record.

I haven't seen a Vol orange shirt in Nashville in 2 years other than the Tennessee game this year at Vanderbilt. I was in Walmart on Thursday and saw so many new Vandy hoodies on people who i'm not even sure graduated from high school.
Vol fans are a pitiful lot.

I did see this "Fire Fulmer" truck driving near downtown Nashville today.

This!

Do you know anything about football and what James Franklin inherited? He's doing things no coach at Vanderbilt has ever done. Yes, that's not saying much compared to any elite program, but it's a nice start most coaches would never have tried. Next year is Franklin's third year and he knows what he has in front of him. He now gets to play with a majority of his own recruits in 2013. And if he wins 10 games opposing fans will say he hasn't done something else. You have to climb the mountain and Vandy is off to a great start!

Wouldn't argue that UT is in a slump at the moment, but name one program in the SEC that hasn't experienced a slump and a series of unfortunate circumstances at some point. Until Saban became Bama's 5th head coach in 10 years in 2007, you could have easily said the same thing about Alabama as you're saying about UT, who's laughing now?

I will argue that an 8 win season is no reason to believe that Vanderbilt is now a top 25 caliber program. I will also argue that in-state recruiting is CERTAINLY NOT gonna propel Vanderbilt in to an elite program. Tennessee is not a hotbed of 5* caliber recruits, not even close.

I'm not worried about a program that has only managed to beat us 3 out of the last 30 years. Franklin or no Franklin, Vandy is still Vandy, and nobody gives a rat's arse about Vandy.

And just for fun, Foreman just de-committed from Vandy and is headed to Knoxville. Wheels are coming off the Dore bandwagon as we speak.

Probably not, but if he thinks the road is ahead of him at Vandy and the wheels start turning, he is already in the premier conference of college football. Nashville is not a hard city to recruit to, it's Vandy that has been the hard sell.

I like Vandy, and everything Franklin is doing for you guys in Nasville. However the fact that people are saying Vandy is now the premier school in Tennessee is laughable

You've beaten us 3 times in the last 30 years?
& as said before.. The fact that TN boy Malik Foreman just flipped to us doesn't help that arguement

We a better situated to recruit nationally than Tenn, IMO. Vanderbilt is selling something different than Bama, Ole Miss, etc. Tenn is not.

One recruit switches and the wheels are falling off the Vanderbilt bandwagon? When was the last time the Tennessee bandwagon had wheels? Face it, Vandy is a team on the rise and Tennessee is a dumpster fire.

I beg to differ based on historical evidence. If you're in a better position to recruit nationally, why haven't you consistently out recruited Tennessee?

Vandy is selling something different, they certainly can't sell program prestige.

At least Arkansas fans have had a sense of humor with their dumpster fire of a season!

I found it humorous that as Vandy sunshine pumpers were talking about winning the recruiting battle, a Vandy commit jumps ship with no hesitation.

We'd have a sense of humor about it, if this hadn't been so common in the last 5 years. I admit I'm a Vol apologist, but for a fan base that is traditionally used to winning and competing for championships, what would you expect? You think Bama fans were laughing 5 years ago? How about ND fans?

Making room for a 4*. I think its safe to say we arent to upset about it. To be honest we needed the space. If you are paying attention then you will notice that all the lower level recruits we had have magically decided to "switch" to lower teams. We Have bigger fish to fry than a 3 star guy that runs a 4.4. we have signed 10 of thoise in the past 2 years lol. I think we can spare 1 or 2 that we dont really need ya know

The important stat is that Franklin has only lost once to a team with a losing record (UT last year in Knoxville). That is insane for a program like Vanderbilt. Franklin is something like 14-1 against teams with losing records. The win against winning teams will come, but we are taking care of business against losing teams. We needed to do that first, and it shows a different football team.

I think I understand that based on Vandy's history. Baby steps.
