The "run first" offensive scheme has won us 2 NCs in the last 3 years.
We came back from a 31-17 deficit in the 3rd Qtr with 6mins left in the SECCG by running the damn ball against UGA.
If it aint broke, dont fix it.
Run whatcha brung.

Pretty obvious in the Saban interview before the 2nd half that he told Nuss to run the ball. Why not?

There are very, very good reasons why we didn't run the ball against a&m. Lacy got his bell rung and Yeldon has already fumbled. I was mad about it at the time but it makes sense now. I don't the actual platy that was called, that was the problem.

If you look at the percentage they held their opponents under normal rushing yards for the season their defensive numbers are slightly better than UAs.
Obviously this can be skewed based upon competition their opponents face but it is still a good starting point. I'd say defensively it is a wash. Offensively UA has better numbers.
CK is a very good coach so this may be a good game.

How many top rushing teams has Bama faced? Not many. ND will be one of the best rushing attacks that Bama has faced. I get the feeling that Bama is way too cocky going into this game.

If TR doesn't drop an easy TD and Ingram not fumble down the sideline....the halftime score could have been 35-0 or more.

Alabama had a game plan that would have annihilated McCoy at the end of a 4 quarter game. That game plan worked fantastic when he was in, AND we had to totally in-game coach up a new scheme against a quarterback we never planned against.
We destroyed Texas, and you know as well as everyone else here how Saban will sit on a lead. We were up HUGE and decided to become totally predictable and run to eat clock and control the rest of the game... which worked!
We could have stretched Texas much worse... but the team had it in their mind we had won no matter what we did. They didn't play the full 60 minutes Saban always preaches about because they knew they had won. And they were right... thankfully.
Think about how much better Alabama actually was as a team than Texas was. Now think about how that game would have ended up if they played a 10 game series.
You can stay ultra-Auburn and defend horrible arguments because you want to TRY to convince yourself and/or others that Bama should/could have lost that game... but you'll never accomplish that. Damn, bro.. just relax! Alabama not only destroyed Texas in the NC game, but was the best team in the country. We deserved it.
Just like we were the best team last year and proved that.... and we still have another game left to prove who the best team is this year.
Bottom line... you can try to argue angles all you want, but our game plan was working against McCoy and would have worn his arse out had we not pummeled him so hard he had to quit playing. Either way, we won AND we deserved to, AND we were the best team in 2009.

I will admit it is sorta cute when gumps think they are even comparable to AU when they have a good football team.
