Left guard Chance Warmack said the first team hasn't missed a beat with Kelly at the center of it all. "He's an exceptional young player that catches on very fast with the scheme of things," Warmack said. "I don't really see him as a young player. I see him as a veteran. "He's keen on carrying me and taking control in terms of making the right calls, knowing the scheme, what it takes to be a starter at center on the offensive line. He's doing a really good job."

Those arms look a little small. Needs to work his arse off in 4th quarter program to get stronger.

Most pure centers aren't all that big.

@BryanDFischer Not as huge of a drop off as most imagine. RT @slmandel: Barrett Jones still not practicing. Kind of a big deal with Louis Nix on other side

Bryan Fischer weighed in to Mandel's comments.

well, jones would be getting help with nix anyway, as i doubt he can block him single handed. so kelly + warmack or kelly + steen will still probably not have issues

Jones was singled p on Jenkins quite a lot and ore than held his own. Nix is not better than Jenkins.

If Barrett Jones doesnt play, the game will be too close for comfort, imo.

We would still have four future NFL starters playing on the OL.

If Barrett Jones doesnt play, I still think we'll win but its highly unlikely and unreasonable to expect there to be zero drop off in production without him. Barrett is a senior, has won 2 NC's and has 4 years of experience. Ryan Kelly is a Freshman. Im just trying to be realistic. Either way I think we'll be ok in the NC... its just going to be a bit more challenging.

It definitely will be a challenge and its becoming clear that even if Barrett does play, he will be severely limited. At that stage and against that team (defense), its kinda scary having to rely on a 1st time starter at Center. Hopefully the guards (Warmack/Steen) can give the kid a boost if it comes to it.

ETA: And of course AJ...
