We will be top five. There are some damn good ones in the SEC, especially next year, IMHO. I'm more excited about how much better out D should b though. Gotta have some balance...

what is your fascination with Auburn? Do you actually think they'll be #3?

Before the start of this season, UGA was returning their entire defense so UGA fans said they would have the best defense in the SEC in '12. They end up with the #12 rushing D, the #6 total D, and the #6 scoring D. That's in the conference, not nationally.

Their offense has always been inconsistent, their OL has always underachieved even with All-SEC and All-American OL, and typically half the UGA fanbase has #fireBobo in their sigs. Has Murray REALLY shed his rep for underachieving in big games with his win over UF? I'll need to see it to believe it....

Post of the year. This deserves more credit. Well said Conway.

The past 2 years it's been pretty darn good, and this year it was VERY good, and returns 11 starters.

We've had several very good OLs under Richt. And please post how many All American linemen we've had in the last 5 years or so. Because if there are any, it ain't many.

So that means our offense won't be as good in 2013? Perfect logic.

We're not talking about Murray's record in big games, we're talking about the best offense. Just look at the guy's stats. Texas Tech may not have had many great wins under Leach, but can you really tell me they didn't have a good offense?

You saw it this past year, we had a very good offense and return 11 starters. There's no real, logical reason to think we won't be better next year.

LSU. It's going to be glorious when Mett makes Murray cry in Athens and then grabs all of UGA's cheerleaders' asses on the way out.

Damn...UGA is gonna get some beatings...cause the Gators are picking Murrays pockets, put pinholes in his trojans, smack some wrs around and at halftime break into some dawgie cribs, steal all their cheese, drink all their beer, pee on their carpet, waxspank their g/fs azzes and then put a Property of UF Athletic Dept decal on them buns.

Except for that Florida game....and the South Carolina game. So you could say they were only very good against terrible defenses during the regular season?

Holds national high school passing record for passing yards, think Chase Daniel and he was wanted by the likes of Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Cincy, Vandy,

There is a lot to like about Mauk especially from a competitive standpoint. He is tough and gritty. Shows savvy and has a knack for making the right play at the right time. We are not quite sure he is as tall as his listed measurables would indicate, but it's his gunslinging mentality that stands out above all. He is a feisty rascal that can be a nightmare to handle when things break down because he is such a good athlete. He is a passer first, but a sneaky runner with quick feet and legs to buy time and keep a play alive. This is not always a polished passer; Mauk is more of a sandlot thrower like a Doug Flutie that just slings it and gets it done. He has a very live arm and the ability to stretch the field with power and velocity. There are times when he will make some throws into tight creases at the intermediate level that can be eye popping and he also can do this when on the move. He is a player that is probably best suited to play in the spread because of his run/pass skills on the perimeter. Fundamentally Mauk needs refinement to enhance accuracy and consistent footwork, but with his mentality we are not sure you would want to change too much of what he does. The key for him is to make sure he does not take too many risks with the ball. He has confidence and knows he can make plays which is a double-edged sword. He has a quick delivery and the ball really pops off his hand, but you do notice him cock the ball back prior to delivery which is wasted motion, but not alarming in any way. Mauk may not have ideal overall measurables, but he has some real intangibles that are very attractive and those feet and that arm are of significant value. Good prospect.

A&M or UGA. I think UGA.

Manziel will have to adjust to losing 1 or 2 awesome OTs and his clutch go-to in Swope.

Both will be solid.

I bet LSU's will be top 4 in the conference. We return our whole offense minus Shep and maybe a RB going pro (we've got a ton).

Scoring offense- 3rd
Rushing offense- 4th
Passing offense- 4th
Passing efficiency- 2nd
Total offense- 3rd

Those numbers generally mean you have a good offense, and we return 11 frickin starters. I know you hate UGA, but it's obvious to anyone without an axe to grind that we could potentially have the best offense in the conference. We return all 5 OL, statistically the best RB in the league, a QB who could break SEC and NCAA records, and plenty of good WR and TE talent.

UGA played only 5 opponents this season that will finish with winning records on the season. FIVE (5), and went 3-2 against them. One of those 5 was a FCS opponent, Georgia Southern. The FBS opponents UGA beat in 2012 went a combined 53-68 on the season, with Vandy, Ole Miss, and GT in position to add more wins or losses with their bowls. Combined the past 2 seasons, the opponents UGA's offense was "pretty darn good" against and got wins over went 105-130 on their seasons. Big Woo...

You're the UGA fan...you should be telling me. UGA fans were talking about how they would be the first OL taken in the NFL draft this past off-season (they weren't). Weren't YOU one of them?

Cordy Glenn, Ben Jones, Clint Boling come to mind first....

It certainly doesn't support the theory about good offenses if the OC is always under fire from the fanbase..

Depends on what context "best offense" is put under....I have a good idea UGA fans share a different context from most the other SEC fans. Example: UGA was a top-10 nationally ranked team all season long, and had a shot at possibly playing for the MNC at the start of the SECCG. But UGA is also 1-6 over the past 2 seasons versus all FBS opponents they've faced who have each won 10+ games. So does UGA REALLY deserve to be mentioned among the nation's "best"? One (1) and Six (6), and they have another chance against a 10-win Nebraska on Monday.

As a Gamecock fan, my best opportunity to see UGA's offense for myself was against the team I follow, which also happens to have a pretty decent defense to gauge by. What impression do you imagine I came away with?

You are right Conway, but let's remember that UGA fans were the only ones claiming their defense would be the shizzizle. Most everyone else lol'd at them when they'd claim it - because they do it every year.

Every year they've got the next Herschel and every year they're gonna have the greatest D in the league since Bama's '92 squad.

They'll be doing exactly the same this off-season as well.

Ok I will, we've had 2 AAs on the OL under Richt, the last being in 2005. It is widely known that we've had OL issues in the past, but nobodoy (other than you I guess) is under the impression we've been littered with AA talent there. This year they did better than expected, and return everybody.

Huh? UGA would be the first OL taken in the NFL? That doesn't make any sense. I'm assuming you're referring to Cordy Glenn, who I said all last year is a natural OG. We had to play him out of position at LT in 2011 out of necessity.

quote:

Cordy Glenn, Ben Jones, Clint Boling come to mind first....

What about them? They were all very good players for us. I'm not seeing what your point is here as it relates to our OL in 2013.

quote:

He's not always under fire by our fanbase. You realize that the like 8 UGA posters that post on the SECR make up about 0.0000000000001% of UGA's fanbase right? And ask all the people who hate Bobo what they think of his season in 2012. Even his most ardent detractors will give him credit for what we did this year.

quote:

Depends on what context "best offense" is put under

Well..other than how many yards and points you put up, I don't know really any other way to guage it. We did both fairly well in 2011, and return practically everybody.

quote:

I understand that probably the only full game you watched of our offense was against SC, but I could just as easily say UF sucks because against UGA they scored 0 touchdowns and had 6 turnovers. But the reality is they don't suck and are a good team, just not better than us on one Saturday.

If you look objectively at what our offense did this year and the major players on it that return in 2013, it's easy to see how great we have the potential to be.
