I didn't give odds but I think most people that don't have their head in the sand would agree that its more likely at this point that Sandberg does NOT come to MSU than he does. The kid obviously WANTS to play baseball if someone will give him that opportunity with a nice hefty bonus. Well it only takes ONE MLB team willing to do that and he's gone.

You know this how? You are jumping to conclusions based on what he is telling the media -- which is simply playing the game correctly in not prematurely hurting his MLB draft stock. You don't have any more of a damn clue about what Sandberg is actually thinking than the rest of us -- nor do you know what his "number" is. All prospects have one...

One MLB team willing to do that? What you really meant to say is ONE mlb team willing to do that in the first 3-4 rounds.

We've got to protect ourselves on this and take a second guy -- but Sandberg going to MLB is so far from a given right now it's hilarious. Let him START his senior year before making ridiculous assumptions.

It would give him the option to still sign a scholarship in the event that he isn't drafted/doesn't get the money he wants from MLB

National signing day is Feb.
MLB draft is June...with a signing deadline of mid July, which almost all prospects push in hopes of getting a better deal. So, Sandberg will be in his second summer semester at MSU before he has to make a decision about MLB.

So, in a negotiation that we don't have the greatest chance of winning in the first place, we expect him to come to MSU on his own dime for the first two months?

Give him the scholarship. Have plenty of slots with the injuries and greyshirts to other less talented players. Only taking under 20 next season anyway, so plenty of room to make up for a lost scholly if he goes pro.

I see your pooint Coonass, but as a program who wants to take the next step in the SEC we HAVE to have TOP LEVEL QB play. Just my 2 cents. Relf won games as did Matt Wyatt and Wayne Madkin, but it sure would be nice to win and continue to win games with top level QBs like we currently have with Tyler and Dak.

None of this has anything to do with giving Golden a scholarship, which was the original point being made.

I really don't but I do read threads on here and that's why I asked. I do know recruiting is very important to the success of any program but life is too short for me to try to keep up with all that when I can just read engie's post.

Recruiting news will make the less restrained literally want to go out and kill a motherfricker. There was several instances the last two years where I just wanted to go all Luke Woodham on anyone wearing an OM shirt. The only thing that saved them was that it was illegal
