I can't find this anywhere so here goes. Does every SEC school get money by any other SEC school going to a bowl game, or do they have to win the bowl game. And is this seperated by SECE and SECW bowls.

What I mean is, if I'm not mistaken, for example if Alabama wins the national title game, all other SEC schools win money it's like a shared pot?

If that is accurate what amounts do other schools get, how is that determined, and what if you lose your bowl game do you still put money in the pot to share? Or is this just lunacy and not true? Like if FL were to win it's bowl, would Ole Miss gain anything from that? It just sounds too crazy.

In all honesty, yes, the SEC evenly distributes all revenue (TV, bowls, etc.)

It's a good thing. A very good thing.

Aha! I found it, the answer!

Here's a quote from the article.

Under the SEC's revenue sharing plan, the conference and its 12 schools share that money equally after expenses, along with revenues from bowl games and seasonal television rights.

Last school year, the SEC distributed $127.2 million, or $10.6 million to each school. That included $13.7 million from the football championship, or $1.1 million per school.

"Vanderbilt's going to make the same amount of money as the University of Florida for this game, as is Kentucky and the University of Alabama," said Greg McGarity, UF executive associate athletic director. "That's probably the biggest misconception about the tremendous amount of dollars out there."

Written in 2008 I think though. LINK

Each team gets the same amount, win or lose. You take all your expenses and give the rest to the SEC to divide evenly. Of course, expenses are pretty high and I doubt they try to be cheapskates on a Bowl trip.

I was just stating it's rather humorous considering it's the SEC and most people who are fans of the SEC more than likely lean right (politically) and yet seem to support a system that helps the "less fortunate programs." Aka share the wealth. But in reality would be very opposed to a system being implemented where we needed to spread the wealth out evenly. I knew it would go over your head!

You recoup all the costs of going to the bowl game from your bowl money. The rest of it goes to the league who passes it out
