They have some weird criteria, so don't put alot of weight in it...

If FSU finished 25th with score of -5 where do schools like Auburn and Tennessee finish.

That's quite a range from 1 to 25.

Instead, the New America Foundation bases its rankings on several factors: how a football team’s graduation rate compares to that of the school’s overall male student body, how a team’s black-white graduation gap compares to the male black-white graduation gap in the general student population, and the spread between a football team’s black graduation rate and the school’s overall graduation rate for black men. “Our formula is the only one out there that puts these statistics into context,” says Alex Holt, an education researcher at the New America Foundation. (New America’s formula gives less weight to a school’s Academic Progress Rate, which it considers a less rigorous test, than actually graduating).

wtf is this shite?

Auburn is far better academically than FSU. In fact UA and AU have gone back and forth between leading in the rankings for years now. The frick are you talking about?

Only thing that surprises me is Bama is not #1.

Bama's "academic support" for its players is second to none. They pass whether they attend class or not. Many even appear not to even know what degree the university is going to award them.

Exhibit A: Mount Fatass

MFA: I graduate soon, spring I think.

Reporter: That's great, what is your major?

MFS: Uhhh, I don't really know. I tend to forget what it is, you know what I'm saying?

Not on the list. These days, our players actually have to attend class and do some work. Unlike some other schools.

Therefore, I do not expect AU to be on that list.

You are not understanding it. If a program just passes all its players throughout their career, they will rank high.
