Yeah you need to read your op again. Stafford sucked as an SEC QB and Couch did nothing. Manziel is way better. Neither of those guys got close to sniffing a heisman.

Agree except for maybe a 2nd Heisman. That has only been done once so that has to count for something.
Its def more difficult 2nd time around, and I assume the Texas A&M name will be a hindrance to that recognition. In fact any team not named Michigan, Ohio St, Alabama, USC or Texas with a Heisman contender looking for a repeat will have a tough time IMO.

Stafford Stats
Posted on 12/9/12 at 4:04 pm to bigDgator
In '07 and '08 Stafford passed for nearly 6,000 yards and had 44 touchdown passes those two years. He was pretty damn salty in college.

Oh and in '97 and '98 while at Kentucky Couch passed for 8,495 yards and 75 touchdowns. Again, solid college quarterback.

Kind of like Bray. Salty when it doesn't count. Did either of them ever get to the SEC championship game? I know neither won a conference title or heisman.
Just saying I would take Manziel over those two in a heartbeat.

Nothing against the kid, he is a fine player, but I would not rank him as all time SEC great. He was fortunate in that there were not any other good alternatives to choose from the year.

as a passer? shite. as an innovative fricktoy? highly.

If only looking at stats, he has to be close to top 10 or better, already.
As far as all-around QB play, he has some work to do to make that top 10. It doesn't necessarily always apply, but I don't think you can rank him ahead of any QB that has won the SEC or National Title - its just too tough to do without playing well at the QB position.
Guys like Tee Martin, Matt Flynn, Greg McElroy, Jay Barker, etc. may have not put up huge stats, but at some point they were forced to win games for their team and did. Manziel will do that at some point, and he's got plenty of time - he's just not there yet.

Even though he has won the Heisman I don't think you can put him on the same level as the Manning brothers, Stafford, or Couch.
Not Peyton, but the others, you absolutely should. You're and Ole Miss knob slobber, but Johnny >>>>> Eli. Johnny, right now, is the 5th best QB in the SEC over the last 20 years. He has three years left to improve that standing.

What the frick are you talking about? Manziel almost single-handedly beat Bama. He also made a bunch of plays in the fourth quarter of the Ole Miss game to beat them after being down by 10 points in the 4th quarter. And Tee Martin, Matt Flynn, Greg McElroy, Jay Barker wouldn't have won squat without a great supporting cast carrying them when they struggled which was quite often.

JFF has 4,600 yards and 41 TDs in his FRESHMAN season.
And he still has a game to play.

43 TDs but I think he gets the point.

He'll go down as one of the top 3 if(no order) if he:
1. Win's another Heisman...which he won't do unless he..
2. Win's an SEC Title and/or competes for MNC.
