TAMU is 4-12 in the last 16 bowl games since 1990. Obviously it is hard to get up for lesser bowls, even though you played in the 1998 Sugar Bowl but lost. What do you think the reason is for is? Sure, lots of mid-level teams don't have a lot of bowl success, but TAMU is a powerhouse in college football.

ATM is not a powerhouse. At least not recently in the last decade or so. And one reason for that bad bowl record is they've been getting their doors blown off by SEC teams.

Ehh..I dont want to talk about it.

I will say that the past, even last year, feels almost irrelevant. This is a totally new identity for the program.

That 2000 Snow Bowl against Mississippi State was epic. Smoot, Madkin vs. Bethel Johnson and Tombs.

We had some problems with winning the bowl game before the two bad hires but a 1-5 bowl record under Fran and Sherman doesn't help.

3 points...

We weren't prepared for bowls after playing a SWC schedule.

We get slotted slightly over our head a lot because we are a good bowl draw (ie being selected for 2010 Cotton Bowl over Nebraska and Ok St, being selected for 2012 Cotton Bowl over LSU)

Sometimes you play a better team (tied to the above). That Cal team we played in the Holliday bowl was stacked with pro talent. Then all the SEC schools we played. The SEC 3 vs the B12 2 just isn't a fair fight most years We are the SEC 4 this year against the B12 2 and we are favored still

a lot of things are different about aggie football since we joined the league. Not much of the data from our Big 12 days is relevant now that we have sumlin, JFF and all of the swagger of the current regime.

Many of Slocum's bowl losses were just inexcusable and I have no idea why they happened.

An 8-turnover faceplant in a 10-2 loss to Florida State. Loss to Pitt in the 89 Sun Bowl. 3 point loss to Notre Dame because of late fumble. Blowing a lead and losing to UCLA. It just never seemed to end. The fricking Snow Bowl.

In some of Slocum's bowls we just got beat by superior opponents. 28-3 Notre Dame. The BCS bowl loss to Ohio State.

Fran's and Sherman's bowls, we just sucked, eith the exception of the Cotton Bowl loss to LSU. That was a good Aggie team. LSU was on a different level. We got out-athlete'd.

The main reason has been getting slotted in bowls above our record or play in a particular season because we travel well, etc.

That probably wont necessarily be the case in the SEC because there is more than two or three teams that are very attractive draws for bowls, unlike the big12

We've probably been underdogs in most games. Never had much of an answer for the SEC either (UT, UGA, & LSU recently).

Shows the quality of coach A&M had before.

Sherrill went unbeaten in bowls. Slocum won 3, Franchione and Sherman combined for 0 wins.

The reason? Different teams and coaches and their recent bowl history will have ZERO affect on this year's bowl game. How many of those 12 losses did Manziel play in and Sumlin coach in?

I think he was the WR coach in the Snow Bowl vs MSU.
