Kansas City?

I live in KC, it's probably 45-50% Mizzou, 30% kU, 20-25% other (Nebraska, K-State)

DC is at most 15% VT fans, there are so many D-1 teams in the area.

The SEC is feinting at Va Tech/NC State. UNC is the prize. We may end up w/ the former, but we want the latter.

UNC + Duke would be perfect.

And let the B1G or Big 12 overextend themselves by reaching into Georgia, NC or Florida. It will cost them brand identity in the long run.

Can you imagine the fricking culture shock in Durham the first time they host LSU or Alabama?

And FSU would rather join the SEC than the Big 10 given the choice.

If the ACC falls apart, I see the Big 12 swooping in and trying to take some of those schools. FSU being one of them.

UNC/USC would be a pretty decent football rivalry. We play them next year FWIW

I can totally imagine it because it was two years ago.

ACC bball>>>>>then everyone else. thats why they stay in the ACC. if shite goes down and they have to move, than you will have to take Duke as well

O RLY? Looks reallllyyyyyy valuable to me.

Only way Duke ends up in a premium conference is if it is the B1G. Only way they end up in the B1G is if UNC isn't there. That is a fact.

No we played them in Duke. They brought in a ton of extra temporary seats, and there were all these articles written about how they'd never seen anything like it.

Just like you said, culture shock.

thats incredibly naive. look at how kansas and tu reacted to us and mizzou leaving.

Again, completely, COMPLETELY different circumstance. Either they both leave for different destinations - win/win. Or Duke is left behind in a dying conference that is worth NOTHING financially. Talking $5-10mil/yr total. They are left in a much, MUCH more precarious situation than Kansas or Texas were. They can choose NOT to play UNC - but they do it at their own demise...

Look, y'all. I know VT would have been a great add to the SEC. I know UNC would be a good add too.

But, seriously. Missouri is a good add. I think Mizzou gets the rap of a "bad fit" because you are comparing them to A&M. We're a PERFECT fit. It's not really fair. Give Missouri some time. They will come around and they bring two huge fricking TV markets with them in St. Louis and KC with ZERO in-state competition.

Now, as for VT, if the ACC starts to fail, they will be SEC quicker than two shakes of a lambs tail.

UNC is not realistic. They can't quit their brokeback lover, Dook. Forget those psudo-yankees. They should give up the Tarheel name. They do it disgrace. Why not take NC State? That will make the SOUTH complete, adding the TARHEALS (state not team) and the TABACCO WORMS back with their other brethren in the new DIXIE NORMOUS CONFERENCE.

It was a home-and-home scheduled in the Mike Shula era. We hosted Duke in 2006 and traveled there in 2010.

FSU/Clemson are Big12 bound. They aren't valuable enough to the SEC financially for us to stop it...

Yes. I think Slive's bowl agreement with the Big 12 was actually a game changer. It gave them some credibility and stability, and gave them a leg up on the ACC. If that $50mil buyout doesn't stand up, I look for the ACC to be raided - that's where Slive wants the rest of his teams from, after all.

Having the Big 12 as the 4th major conference instead of the ACC puts the SEC in the strongest position, long term. That way, the B1G and Big 12 both become geographically split, and the PAC has to take some lesser teams to reach their magic number. That hurts all of them, and strengthens us.

Now, we just have to see where the pieces fall. I'd love to see NC and Virginia to the SEC, personally. UNC and Duke would be great as well. UNC and Virginia are solid to good in sports, great in academics, and the flagship schools of their states. It would bring more strength to basketball, the #2 revenue producer.

I don't see that there is any team we could add that would match the football schools we have now in terms of winning, tradition or revenues. And having ALL the best teams in the same conference cannibalizes us rather than helps us. JMO, of course. For these reasons, VT and NCST would be lower on my preference list.
