Sorry if already discussed, but I'm curious how they feel about their ex-coach. Did they have any clue? This one seems really odd to me. Maybe he wore out his welcome with the administration? Lateral move at best.

It was a great move for Bret.

The Wisconsin fans were tiring of him, perfect time to sign on somewhere else and get a gauranteed paycheck for five more years.

But why were they tiring of him? Did they think he maxed out his potential and would never get them to a BCSCG? Seems like he had it made (despite this year).

They think a heck of a lot less of him today than they did a week ago.

A source told Rick Pizzo of the Big Ten Network that Bielema knew two weeks ago he was leaving and was weighing offers from several SEC schools. Pizzo also said sources informed him Alvarez knew of Bielema’s plan to leave at the end of the season.

That screams, I'm getting the frick out, unless the Arky deal was already in place.

Wasn't he the coach, who was crying about Meyer getting kids who had committed to Wisconsin, to back off their commit, and go else where?

And he also, stuck out his chest, and said" This isn't the SEC", and acted like the Big10, is this classy,we are holier than thou, conference?

From the one Scout board thread I read, most were extremely shocked and sad, and didn't believe it was happening. A few posters were in meltdown mode.

He is a little like Les Miles in how he is regarded by some of their fanbase. Some absolutely loved him and thought he was a top coach, but a small portion of the fanbase wanted him to go. I am sure the number of people that don't/didn't like him has grown exponentially overnight.

Apparently, the big10 coaches had a gentlemen's agreement that once a kid had orally committed to a big10 school the other big10 school's backed off recruiting those kids.

Meyer came in and didn't abide by this agreement and he spoke out publicly about it, yes.

If you haven't noticed, the big10 does things a little different up there.

Yeah I knew he was Alvarez's boy, and I thought he was widely popular. Maybe he wants the challenge of "conquering the SEC". Not that it will happen.

The popular sentiment up North is that BB stepped into a strong program that Barry Alverez had built & that most of BB's success was due to Paul Chryst and Bob Bostad. After they left, Wisconsin was a very different program... Without NCAA sanctions, Wisky isn't even sniffing the CCG much less the Rose Bowl. Without those sanctions, Wisky has the 7th best record in the Big Ten and is going to a bowl game few care about...

This year.

He took them to two prior Rose Bowls where sanctions wasn't in the picture.

People just nit pick small sections to push their agenda to try to make them feel better. He is a great all around hire.

Chryst & Bostad left after last year... I don't claim to know a hella lot about UW or the BIG, that's just what's being said... We'll find out soon...

And? Doren left the year before.

Good coaches have assistants leave to be HCs elsewhere.

He had one get NIU to a BCS bowl this year.

Agreed. I can't wait until Sunhog posts pictures of the gold plated case you guys will make him to house all those SEC trophies and crystal balls. It's going to be sweet.

Think you guys will dig him a canal down to the Gulf of Mexico so he can get a really nice boat to and from the hills of the Ozarks? I think that would keep him at Arky for life.
