Joe Whitt Jr. has been mentored in Green Bay to be a DC since the day he got promoted.

I hate to say it, but I think the best man for the job would be .... Ted Roof. His Defense is exactly what a HUNH offense needs. Go after the ball, strip/intercept, get the ball back to the offense as fast as possible. Now if Ted Roof can just be allowed to run the defense how he wants, instead of incorporating the Tampa 2 per Chizik.

I would be okay with Raheem Morris or Randy Shannon though. Disgruntled but accepting of Ellis Johnson

Philosophy wise Green Bay and Ted Roof run the same defense. Whitt Jr and Greene just teach better fundamentals

Dom Capers runs a 3-4 at Green Bay LINK
While at Auburn,Ted Roof, sometimes used multiple packages, but we were never a 3-4 defense. We were a 4-3 base. Same thing he's doing now at Penn State.

Exactly. I still think we will be a 4-3 base just run multiples like he said.

I was talking about philosophy as in bend don't break, yards not points
3-4 vs 4-3 is schematic differences not philosophy

Agreed. The turnaround would take too long in the 3-4 for Gus. We have some players in place for the 4-3 and I believe we will stick with that. Just need to hire a DC that is known for creating turnovers and forcing punts.
I'm also a packers fan due to my grandparents still living up there. I'm a huge JWJ fan myself, but the only way he comes to Auburn is for the head coaching job after being a successful DC in the NFL for a while. He's not going to leave the Packers to be Auburn's DC. He has it made there and will eventually take over the reins as DC when Dom decides to retire or do consulting.
