If true, that's a bargain by today's standards. I'm still not a fan of this deal, but maybe this means he'll have a huge budget for assistants.

Chris Bahn is reporting that the deal could have been worth more to Bielema but he wanted that cash for assistants.

If this is true then we just made the best hire we could have.

This.

Plenty to go around for a bad arse OC/DC and recruiters.

Better than spending 5+ mil on a HC like Gruden or Gundy honestly.

Oh and Bielema grew up on a damn hog farm!

This is how you make the fanbase love you from the get go. Arkansans are hardwired to endure struggles and hardships and to still be generous, give to church, help neighbors and strangers out.

No one needs more than $3MM to live fat in Arkansas. With low cost of living and perks the $3.2MM is more like $4.5MM.

This really is huge. If we can offer $1-1.5MM/yr for a top OC with a track record with QB development I will be 100% on board. Another $500K-$1MM for some top notch recruiting coordinator/position coach and I'm f'ing sold.

This I do like. If we can get a badass OC and QB coach then my ney will turn into an emphatic YEA!

On the surface that appears to be the plan from here forward.

He appears to be a guy who can attract coaches who want to advance their careers into HC gigs, which is a good thing. Petrino and Nutt had to many guys who wanted to ride their coat tails from job to job, baby bros, college bros, etc.

If they're any good, that's not too much of a bad thing. At least there's consistency. But I like the setup of this hire. We just have to hire the right offensive guy.

Do we keep paul haynes and taver johnson now? Big 10 ties?

I think Caldwell and Horton would be more apt to keep their jobs since they have been working for the school the past week, not trying to find a new job.

Another reason is each would help shore up recruiting ties.

I'm not in favor of keeping any of the previous staff personally, except moving Allen to some administration role, possibly.
