Don’t ask me why, but I just have a gut feeling that if Kirby is hired he will be the next “former Saban assistant turned head coach” that will fail – ala- Bobby Williams, D. Dooley, etc.

fisher and muschamp turned out alright... saban's former coaches haven't exactly set the world on fire, but that will have absolutely no bearing on Kirby Smart's career -- be it at AU or anywhere.

If it is truly between Kirby, Gus and Chad Morris, the only candidates interviewed, I would rather have Kirby. At least he could keep our recruiting class together and still recruit pretty well.

I understand the concept, but Smart is about the only news going right now. He's the IT topic ATM. It will fade.

While the hire wouldn't blow me away like a Patterson, Petersen or Fisher hire, I could give it a shot. In a buy or sell situation, this would be a hold. Could do a lot worse...could do better. It would at least get me excited again to see if he could get us back to a top notch defense.
