Inside Linebackers next year?

I just watch the games really, I don't keep up with practice reports, inside information about which young guys are looking good, etc.
So, if Mosley leaves, any thoughts on what the rotation might look like?
Obviously Depriest will be there, and he should be a regular in the base defense again. Do we have a guy who may be able to take that Mosley role of being good against the spread teams?

Tyler Hayes may be able to fill those shoes.

Doubt it'll be a rotation next year like it has been since 2010. If Mosley comes back it is him and Trey. If he doesn't it is Trey and probably Ragland.

Tana Patrick? It seemed like he was one of the major contributors from the 2nd string during the Iron Bowl.

Hopefully Trey will be less tentative next year.

I think Devall will win one of the starting linebacker spots. Whether it is one of the inside spots I have no idea. He has been getting more and more meaningful snaps as the season has progressed though. 9 times out of 10 that means that he is pushing the starters hard. He reminds me of Hightower in more ways than just the number.

If he has a good spring and summer he could be pretty dangerous next season. He is extremely talented, just needs some experience.

look for Reggie Ragland, Denzell Devall and Ryan Anderson to make a push for playing time.

Moseley shouldnt go. NFL teams will want someone who is on the field the whole time.

I don't believe in that "coverage specialist" role personally, just a situation that turned out that way rather than a trend.
I'd guess it's between Patrick, Devall, or Ragland.
Dark darkhorse: Jon Allen

Not sure if serious....
The only reason CJ isn't on the field every down is...well I don't think anyone knows. Maybe to give him a break? He is our best linebacker by far and arguably our best defensive player overall.

Im dead serious and your excuse is BS and laughable to see that some of you never take off those crimson colored shades. If what you are saying is true he would be starting at the beginning of the game. I do believe he is the best defensive player but he isnt a great run stopper. He is slim for a LB and would get abused in the NFL by teams who want to pound the ball. Thats the reason why he isnt in. Lol who needs a break on the first play of the game. Come on man. Commentators and Saban have said this all year long.

Well he's simply not on the field in our base package because Nico is a beast at rush defense and horrible in coverage. Mosley is a beast in coverage for a LB and he's good against the run. He's just not as dominant against the run as Nico.

He plays the run sometimes. Sometimes he doesn't. He can defend it just as good as he does the pass.
And I don't think Devall is gonna start on the inside at all. He could always do what Hightower did, but that's just keeping Ragland off of the field and then on third down pushing Dickson off. I think he'll just be a pass rush specialist, and occasionally spell Dickson or Hubbard. Both defend the run and contain way better than he does.

What has he done other that have a high recruiting ranking to be put on the field? Someone like Devall is already on the field and playing good snaps. Not that I think he'll 100% play inside, but there's definitely a chance considering he's already on the field.

Considering the situations he is put in, an assessment of those abilities are a farce. And besides, Deion Belue isn't the only player who can get better in the next year.

Indeed he isn't.

Or blowouts against Aubie and WCU, and for it to be those teams he could've done better against the run. Maybe he will get better, but he isn't starting over two guys who have done more than succeed at what the coaching staff asks of them. He will see the field, a lot, but he won't be over either of them.

Because you're taking one guy who is much better suited at OLB and moving him to ILB over someone who is much better suited at ILB than any other position.

Devall played ILB and was ranked as such his Senior year.
The Staff was talking to Ragland at TE at one point, and practiced outside as well. If they had to get him on the field because he's so good, he'd be there now.

Who is saying they have to get him out there now? He plays in blowouts just like Collins does, and on ST too. I guess if Collins was just so good they'd be putting him on the field too, right?

Wow really he can defend the run just as good as he defends the pass? LOL ok. Also Devall will be a pass rusher for us. Ragland is built for the MLB. If Moseley leaves I think he will take his place and Hayes will take his place on 3rd downs. Maybe we will see Sunseri in the middle on 3rd downs next year IDK. WHo knows.
