Lets talk Defense. I know that Stoops will improve the defense dramatically but how much and will he be able to do it with the current players that we have on the team.

Looking at D-Line this is who we will have for next year.

He's the only coach worth retaining.

Is Jeff Badet worth having? He's Decommited from South Florida with the firing of Holtz.

I looked at his highlight video but he seems undersized at 6' 162#. I assume that's why he hasn't got any more offers from bigger named schools.

He's not too short, but he's a stick. That's likely why no big programs have offered him. He'd need to put on some weight.

Stoops wouldn't commit to the recruits already committed, just that he would evaluate. He did mention that running a 4-3 defense might not fit the committed personnel.
Kind of sounds like he's trying not to commit or decommit from any players till he reviews them.

He said he didn't have time this week to do any of that work because of prepping FSU's defense for Ga Tech, but will start that process tomorrow morning.

I agree. With a decent amount of young talent that we have on defense, I'm excited to see how they look on the field next year.

The scheme change alone will help us improve on our defensive statistics but from the points we gave up last year its going to be an uphill battle for Stoops defensively.

I look forward to the aggressive defense that he's going to put on the field next year though. He's the right guy for the challenge though. His pedigree has shown that he can work with whatever talent that he has and turn them into a solid defensive unit.

He's already contacted four of them. Jacob Hyde, Avonte Bell, Khalid Thomas, and Blake McLain have all received calls from him. He's already let those four know that their offers still stand.

I'm really excited how many times he emphasized recruiting.

Really my favorite part was him talking about recruiting Ohio hard. That is something past coaches have never tried to do. Location wise it is one of the states we have an advantage with against the rest of the SEC.

Feel alot more confident than when Joker was up there mumbling. I think Joker will end up being a great OC somewhere, but I think he got in over his head here.

I watched the whole thing. I did like what he said. I do think he's going to be a fresh breath to the program. The only thing that I noticed was he was very nervous. You can tell he wasn't used to speaking in front of a group that large. It did sound like his DC was hired. I'd expect that to be the DL coach at FSU. I'd say Coley is probably out since he said he would be interviewing OCs this week. I'm excited and it looks like the fan base is as well.

He was real uncomfortable/nervous at the beginning, even called Capiluto "Doc" once.

He got better as the press conference went on, and going over and hugging and shaking the hands of the current players at the end was a nice touch. He will be fine.

I love the way he went back at Cutler, I don't see how that guy is still employed.
