I would prefer a proven head coach.

I am thinking Kevin Sumlin. (Just Kidding Aggies! )

Interesting question. I think they would give it serious consideration to try and keep the train rolling without a lot of disruption, but ultimately I think they go pay a proven HC coach a ton of money.

What if the hypothetical was truly probable?

Good God, I don't believe it will happen just curious what gump nation thought in the event it did. Has Smart been with Saban long enough to be on the level of say Boom as a HC.

We would get Gruden because we can afford him.

Who knows? I've talked to a lot of fans that wouldn't want Smart promoted because he's never been a HC. That will be an interesting situation when Nick leaves for Dallas.

I think they would be quite different. Smart seems much more laid back than Saban or Muschamp. But I do think he would be a good head coach, just a different style. Not sure he is quite ready for a job like Bama though.

No, Les would come after a 28.5 million deal.

Alabama is going to get a big name if/when Saban leaves. No way they don't do what they did when Saban was available and throw the bank at the best coach possible.

He will be a terrible head coach. Great recruiter though, just riding coat tails much like Trooper Taylor.
