I know most/all Auburn fans are glad to be rid of him.

Many--and not just Auburn fans--credit the 2010 success mostly to Newton, followed by Malzahn.

My point is that I dont think he gets his fair share of credit in the success. I point to the Saints for comparison. They have the same MVP worthy QB in Brees and surrounding star studded line up, yet they are struggling without head coach Sean Payton.

ETA:
Don't mean to say he shouldnt have been fired. The collapse of the program is ultimately his responsibility.
However, he's always handled himself with humility and seems to be a man of good character. I hope he lands on his feet.

He did not think so either...Pride comes before the fall...

He had it all and threw it all away...

Umm auburn is going to be better without their coach. It's the complete opposite of the saints.

I said this yesterday, but imagine if Lane Kiffen had been HC at Auburn in 2010 with the exact same set of circumstances. The implosion would have been legendary.

Please elaborate.

Seriously.

I am a huge Bama fan, but I have to admit that I was always impressed with the way handled himself in victory and in defeat.

Absolutely. Hope he's super successful at whatever he does next.

He'll always have 2010. There are about a hundred other FBS coaches who will never experience something like that.

Chizik proved it was luck by being this bad. If you want to give credit to anyone other than Cam and that OL, give it to Malzahn who unleashed the monster.

The fact is that not one Auburn fan can say FOR CERTAIN that another coach would have won a National Championship in 2010. However, they CAN say FOR CERTAIN that Chizik won a National Championship in 2010.

Thus, there should be no buyer's remorse for Auburn fans.

Besides, it's not like he is leaving the cupboard bare. Whoever becomes the next coach of Auburn will have a lot of talent to work with.

Up until this season I gave Chizik a lot of credit especially considering the circus he dealt w from UGA week on

But after this year it's clear that the Gus bus offense was what deserves the credit

The life of a coach is funny. If they are successful one season it is because of someone else. If they are unsuccessful the next season it is their own fault.

Hey...it takes the right know-how to find the best bag man out there to deliver the "package" to papa newton and leave no traces. IT was his greatest accomplishment.

Chizik changed after winning the National Championship... It happens, he bought into the hype...

Not a crack on Chizick as every coach is successful in some part due to his talent level but without Cam that was a 7-5 or 8-4 team. Same with aTm this yr although I believe Sumlin to be a great coach but without JM I don't think aTm is a two loss team.

He gave a $200,000 contract to a player who walked on and did his job for him. Not to mention the sanctions that are coming from the other stuff he did. So is he credit deserved for cheating and doing it in such an obvious manner the NCAA is taking notice?
