How is it a hit piece? It's just talking about Johnny's progress since his arrest, which actually needed to be addressed as there all these lies floating around the internet about what happened that night. Johnny has been arrested, this is public record, nice to see him attempting to get his act together, he's still a 19 year old kid after all.

Manziel has actually benefited from much scrutiny this season because of the muzzle Sumlin put on him.

I bet he sounds like a doucher.

You'll be disappointed. He was smart enough for Stanford. Good kid with a wild streak, most of us can relate.

In His high school interviews he sounds very intelligent as he reaponds with well thought out replies. You'll know after this week because the freshman muzzle will be removed.

So, his mom and dad worked as bartenders until recently, then they became a car salesman and a real estate agent all of a sudden?

TX HS football is serious bizness.

Sounds like a pretty White trash family to me. Great player though.

You'll be sorely dissapointed. He's very well-spoken, was an AP student in HS who could have gone to Stanford and has a 4.0 now in his third semester at A&M.

He got arrested for trying to stop a fight between his friend and another guy, the other guy hit him and a bar brawl started. Nothing that doesnt happen to hundreds of college students every year.

Maybe more of a hit piece on his parents.

"Pulling into the driveway, John Paul parked behind a hot red, shiny Camaro, the product of another deal with his son: if Manziel were a “model citizen,” he could have the car, which was bought a week before Texas A&M upset Alabama, then No. 1. We have to keep him focused; Johnny needs incentives,” Michelle Manziel said..."

It's subtle, but I don't think this article puts him in a good light.

What kind of Wal-Mart has a Paul Blart? Are they talking about that old dude in diapers sitting on the "rascal" and saying "hello, welcome to Wal-Mart"?

Assume much?

That timetable is skewed and article but a snippet of their lives, and those were jobs in their youth, they're high school sweethearts from Tyler. JPM has been in the housing industry in various forms, for ages now. JFF's great-grandfather on his father's side was a very successful oil wildcatter, married to a grand dame from BR.

MaroonWhite, fine new cars are a part of his family lineage, as is the young hellion nature, his father, grandfather, and GGF all had/have..it's in the family genes!

*shrug*

Piece seemed decent enough. He comes from somewhat wild stock, I could have guessed that. And he was arrested this summer and now we see how Sumlin dealt with the arrest:

quote:

Johnny Manziel was to be subject to random drug testing, undergo drug and alcohol counseling, complete more community service and have a daily schedule “mapped out to the minute,”
