Doesn't Stanford have tougher academic requirements for athletes than Vandy?

Stanford is also not in the SEC

That study has Tennessee on the same level as California lol. I would love for that to be true, but California is a gold mine for football talent.

That study is per capita, not total.

Not really. Look at the SEC's ranked teams. All of them are in the darkest colored states, with the exception of South Carolina, which is right on the cusp of being so.

Yeah, in terms of absolute football players, California is yards ahead; however, Tennessee really only has two in-state programs vying for recruiting supremacy: UT and Vandy. California has Stanford, UCLA, USC, etc. Additionally, those schools pretty much have to recruit in-state or nationally. There's not much to be said about recruiting anywhere else in the region. Vandy has been getting recruits in GA, FL, Alabama, and so on. Obviously, we won't get the sterling, elite recruits until our program proves that it can pull off wins against other winning teams, but we have been strong contenders this past year for many excellent players across the South. What makes recruiting at Vandy different than Stanford is that recruiting regionally is not impossible.

FWIW, the highest ranked team in the ACC is from the darkest colored state in that study. And Miami would have been in the ACCCG, if they hadn't bowed out due to impending penalties.

Also look at the highest ranked teams in the B1G and the Pac. The Big12 has the only anomaly in KSU.

I'm saying that the millions & millions of old people, retirees, & snow birds who live in Florida for 3 months out of the year make our per capita numbers look worse than they truly are.

Looking at high school population/numbers would be a better per capita

Oh, I missed read it. That study is a little misleading. Its just for that year.

2011 was a crazy year for the state of Mississippi for recruiting, they had 9 **** and 1 ***** in that class. The next 2 years combined they would only produce 8 **** and 0 *****. 4 **** in each class

Tennessee only had 2 **** in that class, but have 19 combined **** and ***** the next 2 years.

A little bit better overall offense and Vandy would be competing for the East crown... Solid team...Kudos to Franklin for what he has accomplished in two years.

Shows what the right hire can do quickly. Are you listening UK.....

I hear what you're saying, and I'm not totally disagreeing. I don't really think it matters, because obviously Florida is producing enough talent to support two highly ranked programs, another two that are bowl eligible, and still have enough for OOS schools to sign a few.

We have a number of Floridians at LSU, for example, and will sign some more this year.

Don't forget the Big East. The state of Florida supplies tBE 84% of their football players. Louisville's entire 2-deep is from Florida
