Clicky

Pretty good read if you have the time. I like Malzahn's drive to bring ASU a good football program and I genuinely believe he will be at ASU for awhile before darting for a big time job.

I like Gus and was kind of scoffed at when i said that I thought he was right were he needed and wanted to be. I think he is smart enough to realize that he has a lot to learn before trying to run a major program and with ASU being near his home, that just makes it better for him. I think he will end up there for another 2 or 3 years unless someone offers him an insane amount of money.

1 thing I did see that I thought was interesting was the wording, "I'm very close to a lot of the players and some of the coaches." I might be reading too much into it, but for him to say A LOT of players and SOME of the coaches kind of tells me he didn't leave happy.

From what I've gathered, he definitely was not on the same page with all the coaches on our staff

Folks, Gene promised him control, talked him into staying instead of going to Vandy, then meddled in the offense. Chizik was jealous of Malzahn. He was close to his offensive coaches.

And to the LSU supporters, he said, "You have got an interesting head coach."

That's a valid interpretation.

Another is that since BVG and WM weren't there when he was, he no longer is close to all of the coaches, just "some" since he didn't work with them.

Occam's Razor. The more rational explanation is usually the correct one. Gus Malzahn isn't the kind of guy IMO who would be publically critical of people he's worked with in the past.

This is what I took that quote to mean.

Its ok, I thought Chizik was building a powerhouse football program which was going to last a long time.

No matter what is said about Gus the man will answer questions. He may not provide a lot but he does answer them with out the standard "We've had a good week at practice." He seems to be honest about what he is saying and I for one am happy about that.
