The only thing I can think of was to get him on sportscenter for heisman pub because otherwise they wouldnt have said a word playing SHSU.
He has no chance at the heisman now, voters will look bad on that. Manziel can blame Sumlin too for that bush-league move.

Of course not. It was to keep the hype machine rolling. I'm glad he missed it. I don't have anything at all against the guy personally or as a player, but you just know if he made it it'd be all over the headlines. "IS THERE ANYTHING HE CAN'T DO!?!?!?!?"

I think the kid should win the Heisman, but I thought that was a pretty idiotic sutnt. It was also a big "f you" to Sam Houston State. I like Sumlin, but that is bush league.

Best thing about Sumlin, he's not a stick in the mud like most coaches. He plays music at practice, jokes around with players, and likes for them to have fun. JFF had been messing around kicking in practice and he was making them, so Sumlin let him take a shot at one. Was Heisman pub in the back of his mind, maybe. But that's just Sumlin letting his players enjoy playing.

i guess you are right. i thought perhaps the kicker got hurt and the punter wasnt great at place kicking and maybe johnny kicked in HS. But that clearly isnt true based on the video. How can someone that athletic not even know how to properly kick the ball? That was weird as hell.

It was for fun, really don't see what the big deal is. Not a big drop off from our kicker anyways.
