is not an interesting take.
Have you noticed I hardly predict things I can't say in certainty on regardless of how many people I know surrounding the situation? Just an outsiders take from someone who has a lot of pull from ESPN. I never dreamed so many Hog fans wouldn't care but would rather direct it towards me instead of the context of the post.
Robert Shields of Hogville writes some bad articles, in my opinion, but the amount of shite he gets I hope he continues to write weekly and become successful on a credible platform. My kind of toughness.
Coach?

robert shields does not know anything more than an average fan and his readings are painful at best. If wants to start a blog he needs to do it away from homerville.
A lot of people usually in the know have nothing. Which could be scarey or awesome if we get the right coach. Patterson and Gundy are smoke screen misdirections. Thinking it will be someone outside the names so far mentioned.

I found the take interesting from a top ESPN executive saying not that we couldn't hire a good coach but Oil men will most likely stop us from Gundy and Patterson if they desired.
ESPN executive =/= knows a fricking thing about the U of A. It means jack shite, actually. No one on the planet had a clue we'd hire Petrino until just a few days before when he started getting randomly mentioned.
Oil men aren't going to keep us from obtaining Gundy. Patterson, maybe. Gundy, no. And if the TCU boosters want to push Gary's compensation package up to $5MM'ish to keep him, more power to him. But he's not worth that much and I'd be glad we couldn't get him.
OSU can't outbid us for Gundy if we REALLY decide we want him. TBoone got pretty fricked with some of his hedge fund bets. IF we're courting Gundy and he stays, it won't be because of money. It will be because he was just using use to gain leverage with his alma mater.

Exactly.
My old fraternity brother (one of the wealthiest in Arkansas) has nothing, Dennis has nothing, best friends brother who works for IMG knows nothing, Frank told my father he doesn't know. Long is holding his cards tightly to his chest. He'll dad was lucky enough to play golf with John Gruden and Mike Tirico, in Atlanta, and came away with nothing.

Hence the OP.

As do I. I am not sure it will as left field as Petrino but it does make this exciting.

Considering he helped put the Longhorn network together and spoke to those power players in Texas that could have our potential coach..., I'll listen to his opinion with merit.

I disagree on OSU. We won't outbid Boone if he really wants Gundy after winning the Big12. As I stated earlier the only chance we have is if he wants to coach in the SEC which is something money can't buy to keep him at OSU.

Which certainly means money and power. *I need a keyboard that doesn't stick*

Should I send RS a msg welcoming him back here? I was pretty nasty to him. Nastier than I should have been, but none of us here can withstand his dribble.
This is like our little clubhouse of rational human beings.

You can count me in on his dribble but I'll argue with the guy because I literally don't understand his obsession about WMS. I only give the guy respect because he keeps coming back for more of a beating while many others just quit.
The club house is fun just depends if you want someone with polar opposite views or not?

It is amazing how little people know about this search and how afraid they are of speculating who it will be.

You didn't even name this supposed 'Espn executive.'
So your interesting take is just the opinion of some anonymous drunk guy. Thank you so much for starting a thread about it.

i posted last week that ken mourton(foundation chairman & lawyer) has been at his house outside of las vegas since the week before last, i have no doubt he retreated there to talk deals and possibly host potential coaches, he did the same thing with anderson was hired. i think it's a done deal, at this point, and now we just have to wait and so who the lucky coach is...
Sun i like your post, i think they are funny, but you'll never be e-ballin as hard as me.

Any idea why that might be? Maybe it is because I'd like to network with him when he comes back to LA? What is wrong with you people...

Yup. That's it. You certainly are throwing stones at the wrong person but continue I enjoy it.

Good to know. As I enjoy stories myself because Arkansas isn't that big therefore you are either in or out. Long is a new regime however on the hill. This process is fun and I am rather enjoying it regardless of the hire.

Says the guy who brings words to a picture war.
"Mr. Gary Charles George serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of George's, Inc. Mr. George has 26 years of banking experience. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Legacy National Bank. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas."
I was a groomsmen in his son's wedding and we are very close friends. Johnny Tyson was my father's fraternity brother in college and they still talk to this day. I know the chicken crew board members in NWA very well. As I pointed out previously none of that matters as Jeff Long is a new breed and he his holding his cards tightly to his chest. It makes it this much more fun because it doesn't matter who anyone knows at this point.
