Anyone see Brewsters interview about receivers this morning?

Pretty interesting, the guy loves Bump and spoke very highly of Russell and his future in the league. The thing that stuck out to me is his quote about Morrow, "he's as talented a kid as I have ever seen, he's just very raw, I can't wait for the spring to teach him the fundamentals of playing wide receiver". I think that explains a lot about our receiver play the past few years and why it's improving so much as the season progresses, doesn't sound like Mirando was doing anything other than recruiting.

Russell gonna tear the club up next year.

I think Brewster helps a guy like Morrow exponentially. IMO if we had Brewster last year, Morrow would be performing right now. His issue is he played in the wing T in hs and had no idea about how to play wr. He needs good coaching and Brewster is the guy to get him ready for a breakout next year

I seriously hope we can hold onto Brewster for a long time, I feel like he is going to be a hot commodity for offensive coordinator hires.

No, it justs shows how little WR's are taught in Mississippi high schools. Morrow ran 3 routes in HS- we have that many options on one pass play. Morrow doesnt play because he doesnt know wtf to do.
Now Brewster is a better coach than Mirando, but our problems at WR are our WR's themselves

Too bad the current Ocean Springs staff wasn't there sooner. Ocean Springs offensive coordinator is one of the best coaches in the state of MS.

Agreed!
I bet Morrow's younger brother who played for OS this year is far advanced where Joe was at this point in HS under Todd Mangum's 3 yds and a pile of dust offense.

I just want Brewster to land us at least one borderline elite JUCO WR in the 6'4 range that can stretch the field... Doesn't have to be "Cord Patterson" elite, but good enough to keep defenses honest.
This has been a problem in our offense the entire time under Mullen...It is past time that we fix it.
I like the HS guys we've got coming, but it's likely they are nowhere near ready...

Moncrief at doesn't seem to have any problems. And he was from Raliegh, Mississippi. The capital city of Nowhere, MS.

I know he is under the radar, but De'Runnya Wilson's upside with Brew coaching him is HUGE! Plus he could probably play 2 sports and be our best basketball player. we could even use a basketball scholly and get another football player for free!

I don't buy that it's coaches, not now at least. Granted that 5 years ago 95% of Mississippi offenses ran the ball almost every down but it's comparable to the QB development in state then as compared to now, it isn't the issue anymore. All of our receivers have looked like shite since HUD left.

Yeah. We haven't had a real standout receiver in a while.

Moncrief is an NFL talent also...not to mention you won't see Robert Johnson and Morrow on the Dean's list I bet ya

Our WR's looked like shite when Hud was at State too...We couldnt throw the ball all year in 2010 until the end of the season- and even then alot of that was Perkins catching screen passes...
Remember Berry dropping the pass that would have given us the chance to tie Auburn? There was alot of that...and even in 2011, we had the same damn WR's- every one of them. Did they just forget everything Hud the Great taught them?
As I said, our problems at WR are the WR's themselves

You do realize that our QB situation then was quite possibly the worst in modern history at State right? His freshman season was Bump's best year prior to this season, and if we had a receiver playing on Berry's level last year or this year for that matter our offense would benefit hugely.
I'm pleased with the improvement of Robert Johnson this year particularly, we are going to look good next year and the next at receiver. I love how physical they have gotten and how hard they play in the blocking game, there are some great receivers in the SEC who can't run block for shite and aren't physical and I'm glad he is determined that our guys be efficient in all areas.
