This, regarding whole bowl scenario. And no, it isn't a flame.
As much as I hear the eager chatter about how JFF is the bigger draw for the Fiesta over LSU, I hear something else: "Texas won't face us in the Cotton".
You guys need to change that. You're in the SEC now. Texas doesn't decide shite for you anymore; you get equal bowl revenue as LSU, Alabama, Florida... and Kentucky and Vandy for that matter. You now have LSU, Bama, UGA, Fla and the rest of the SEC on your side, and we have your back. Want to go to a BCS game? Fine, we all do, but the Fiesta isn't for all the marbles; and this season, you have the very legitimate chance to shove your foot right up Texas' arse regarding the Cotton.
So Texas doesn't want to face you? So fricking what? They didn't want the Champions Bowl in New Orleans either, and we see how that went.
This is purely from an overall point of view- if you're worthy, you will have the shot at future BCS games. But right now, you have the chance to flex some new muscle in your home state, at Texas' expense. Show them who calls the shots now. It's why you left the Big 12 in the first place.

I'm glad the fans are calling the shots now.

LSU fans need to stop living vicariously through A&M.

You lost me when you started talking about Texass. Don't care.

Can I keep this in case Florida wins out?

This.
The thread isn't about who should go to what bowl. Enjoy the Cotton though. You guys do need a new mindset. If you go to the Cotton and destroy Texas how much more will that help your in-state recruiting. You'll be able to get the 4 and 5 star Texas players that don't want to go to LSU or Bama!
Most of us are SEC homers during bowl season. If you don't represent the conference well you will hear shite about it all year.

You have to realize that after being the Longhorns whipping boy for so long they cannot change generations of "second place is okay" mentality overnight. A&M is another Auburn. For so long they have been content to try and beat big brother in 1 game out of the season that the big prize is beyond their comprehension. The league now has two bastard step children to baby sit.

I don't think the Big 12 gets 2 BCS bids this year. I really don't.
I just don't see how Louisiana Tech gets kept out of the top 16 if teams above them (USC, UCLA, Oregon State, Texas, Stanford, Florida/Florida State, Clemson/South Carolina) keep losing.
Notre Dame is already in. They only needed 9 wins.
That's 2 at large bids right there out of four. You know the SEC is getting one, and what if Oregon doesn't make the PAC 12 title game?

A&M is still Texas' little brother. I think they like it that way. Everytime I see an A&M fan calling them tu i am reminded of this.

I like how us saying tu brings on this reaction, but you calling other schools gumps or ole piss or faggies has you guys on the ground in stitches.

quote:Oh, if LSU goes, I'll enjoy it. It's still a big venue, and a pseudo-BCS game (remember when we played y'all). I think the money is comparable, and the ratings compare nicely against the Orange and yes, the Fiesta. I'd take Sugar in a heartbeat, and Rose for the once-in-a-lifetime chance. Both of those are just more traditional.
It's not really for us, it's for y'all. Have fun in the Cotton!
It's just... look at LSU a couple years ago. We had this thing going with USC, and it never had any on-field results. Now it would be too late, but there was a time when LSU was pointing right at USC and saying "YOU, motherfricker. I want YOU", and it could have been in fricking Siberia for all anyone cared. It was the game we wanted, for all the lingering crap that was floating out there.
From what I gather, you guys have far more relevant and personal reasons to call out Texas. And right now, you have that chance. Think of it like out on the playground somewhere:
Aggie: YOU. Longhorns. That's right, you. Front and center.
Texas: I don't want to fight you
Aggie: You're damn right you don't. Now, step the frick over here.
Texas: <sniffle> no
SEC gang at your back: step up, pussy.
Rest of BCS schools: C'mon, Texas, man the frick up.
Boise (jumping up and down): Pussy! I'll fight! You fricking pussy!! I'll beat your Longhorn arse! You ain't shite!
Now, if your choice was between that and a BCS Title, then title game by all means. But otherwise, I say go punk Texas. For us, Texas is just another school. For you, that's the bully you now can pay back

quote:That is true. One day, though, Texas will be on the receiving end of an arse beating brought on by years of battling through SEC schedules. When that happens, A&M will realize they've outgrown Texas.
You have to realize that after being the Longhorns whipping boy for so long they cannot change generations of "second place is okay" mentality overnight.
See, A&M fans, THIS is why you have SEC homers. We've been here long enough to know that playing in the SEC is hell for our respective teams. After a while, you start seeing the Boise St.'s and the Kansas St.'s and the Notre Dame's of the CFB world getting attention for breezing through a BS schedule and you go, "Wait a fricking minute... you're in a weak conference. GTFO of here with that." And it happens every year. And as an SEC fan, you long for the bowl games to prove to the rest of the CFB world that what you've said all year long about the SEC being the toughest conference is true.
tl;dr A&M will get there. Once they earn their stripes in the SEC, they'll stop giving a shite about Texas.
