DUMBASSES. LSU WILL KEEP UP. BAMA WILL KEEP UP. THEIR RECRUITING WILL NOT SUFFER. OKLAHOMA AND OKIE LIGHT ARE THE TEAMS THAT ARE GOING TO BE frickED.
LSU is still a more attractive program and will not likely diminish with A&M's success. Stop the bullshite.

I, for one, am glad you guys came in and proved your worth to be in the greatest conference in America.
Now keep up and don't just do it sometimes.....And remember, you have to back up this shite talking every year.
This ain't the Big 12

In a league with Texas and Oklahoma A&M will not dominate the recruiting. They will get their share of course, but the big 12 in not bush
I can see how atm would struggle to recruit being in the big 12.... Everyone knows this....being in the sec now puts emphasis on a kid with thoughts of playing in a particular conference and not which nearby team he'd rather play for.....atm is in a very unique situation and can really capitalize on winning the recruiting in Texas and okla.....
My focus is if atm is in the sec I don't care nor should anyone else fan or player should give a rats arse if they are on whatever high or low level....they either bring it or get it brought....it is not an embarrassment to lose to atm ...they can play period...

I don't know where this "A&M is losing their OLine" crap is coming from. There is 1 Sr on the OLine and he already has a stud to replace him. Joekel certainly may go to the NFL (though his bro is still on the team and he has said he plans on staying and getting his degree) but A&M has a lot of depth there. Matthews is a virtual lock to stay as he is more of a mid first rounder with a chance to play next year alongside his bro (the guy who will be replacing Lewis at C) and he certainly doesn't need the money considering who his Dad is. Lots more talent on the way on the OLine so unless both OT's leave there really should be no dropoff.
I agree defense is the larger concern area. We have less depth there though the incoming talent is better than what we have currently. It will take another year or two though to have LSU/Bama depth but it's happening. The classes A&M is setting up for '13 are loaded with SEC type defensive talent with speed and size and attitude.
The point of this thread is also the future and not the past. A&M won't win the West or the SEC this year and still hasn't really done anything. That's what is scary. Even without a trophy A&M is finishing out a great 2013 class with elite talent and 2014 looks like it is going to be incredible. I agree with those who say "So what? So does LSU, UF, UGA, and Bama". That's actually the point though. A&M is doing what it is doing with Top 20ish recruiting classes. What do you think happens when it is Top 5? We are setting up to be a long term SEC power to keep up every year. That is the point.
It's also foolish to talk about historical programs and how they always recruit. The past has little to do with the future to a 17 year old kid. What they care about is what they think will happen while they were in school. One lesson from the past though. From the mid '80s to the mid '90s A&M dominated Texas recruiting and also cherry picked a lot of talent outside the state. I remember when Mack Brown came in and won some early recruiting battles with his new facilities at the time over A&M and thinking "Woah! We lost THAT guy to Texas? WTF?" Mack came in along with Bob Stoops and kicked A&M's arse and stole our lunch money and became dominant for a decade because of it. So much so that a lot of folks seem to have forgotten what happened before then when it was a lock that A&M was going to have a Top 10 recruiting class, we never lost at home, and we very rarely lost a conference game. The SEC move started that pendulum to swing but the Bama win was the statement A&M needed to kick things into high gear.
Once again, this isn't about A&M owning the SEC. That is virtually impossible to do for more than a brief period anyway. What this is about is A&M is about to truly compete with the big boys not just for a big upset but long term. We got a great coach. Our facilities and fan support are there as is the money. We are in the middle of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. The last thing was really being able to lock down the best recruits out of that area and that is what is now happening.
That's why the real news is the recruiting shift. A&M just destroyed the biggest negative recruiting pitch against us in terms of showing that it isn't just potential to win it is very real. All anyone is talking about in Texas is A&M. The sleeping giant is awake and is going to be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.

Tied for first in what West.
Tied for second, losing a tie-breaker to LSU maybe.
I believe Alabama is still first with only one loss.

The bigger concern is defensive depth. A&M is a lot more Sr heavy and less deep there. The incoming talent is higher rated but still it's not proven.
A team has to have a defense first before worrying about defensive depth.

Do it...win the SEC.......maybe a NC and THEN you can talk shite. Otherwise, you just sound like the also-ran you were in the Big 12 that occassionally made a lil' run.

It's not just Texas though. It's Texas and OU over the last decade plus. One of the 2 has been a BCS team every year I believe, they played in multiple NC games each and won a couple of crystal footballs. All on the backs of Texas talent. You still have to coach it and develop it without question but it sure helps if you have the base to start from. Really the only state in the conversation from a talent perspective in terms of quality and volume is Florida and that has fueled UF, FSU, and Miami for 30 years to a boatload of success.
Great recruiting doesn't win a football game but it certainly stacks the odds in your favor. A&M came in 2nd place in far too many recruiting battles with OU, Texas, and LSU over the last 15 years when those schools could show big wins and shiny trophies. A lot of Texas kids would love to play at home in the SEC in the environment A&M has to offer but that's a hard sell when you aren't winning the games you need to. Sumlin is busting the myth that "A&M can't compete" and has done a tremendous job of bringing a swagger A&M has been missing for a long time from attitude to new uniforms and team entrances to pulling stunts like the helicopter recruiting. Other SEC schools do the same but that doesn't really matter. No one in Texas is and no one else in Texas is in the SEC. Any school that can truly dominate Texas recruiting should be a Top 5 or at least Top 10 school every year, that's the point. A&M just hasn't been that school since the early '90s.

Who the frick cares about the Big 12? The STATE of Texas produces more D1 Talent than any other state. If A&M dominates that recruiting scene and continues to gain momentum nationally we will have no problem continuing to compete at an elite level in the SEC. That is the point. A&M is about to start selecting instead of recruiting.
The key isn't just recruiting good skill position players......if you want to consistently compete at the top of the SEC, you have to be good on the OL and DL. As long as you recruit well and develop the lines well, you will be fine.
