A&M has started selling #2 jerseys for the first time in school history and the university is working on trademarking "Johnny Football." Manziel's scholarship is a pittance compared to what he should be paid.

The university isn't trademarking the moniker; the Manziel family is.

Sure why not, he beat the gumps

He's getting paid in the form of a free education from a university he may have been unable to be admitted to absent his football ability.

This is from the article. I took it to mean the University would own the trademark so his eligibility would not be in jeopardy. I could be wrong, though.

It sickens me that the kids don't make the money off of revenue of jersey sales

Selling the #2 jersey is cool but trying to trademark Johnny Football is just wrong IMO.

Hell, where can I buy one?

So if you made millions for a company, you would be okay with them paying for an apartment and $150,000 for an education and keeping the rest for themselves?

Really, all told, that's not far from what I do for my company and what I get from them in return.
How old are you? That's how the world works.

Exactly. These kids don't realize how the real world works.

What world are you people living in where you think the majority of employee compensation is structured like the NCAA?

I procure large ($) research grants for the university where I work.
Those grants pay a percentage of my salary; I do not receive the millions from them.
Such is life.
