I just don't understand our choice of play calling here. Why are we throwing to set up the run instead of vice versa? I thought after our atrocious play calling last week, we'd have this shot figured out.

Nuss out thinks himself sometimes and gets too cute. Since when is Alabama afraid to run the ball to get 2 yards? It was sickening man

Good to see you're alive champ.

Any idea why I was booted from gallettes? I specifically remember being escorted out, but can't remember why
I'm terrified to see how much money I spent last night

I couldn't find you when we left and your phone was dead. I convinced myself to walk all the way downtown so I could drink and charge my phone..that walk sucked arse. Nice meltdown thread btw, umad.

But why didn't Saban see it and demand an audible to a run?

If Amari would have picked his man like he was supposed to, it probably would have been a TD. The fact is that most of the plays that a lot of people are pissed about have nothing to do with play calling. They have to do with execution. What if we had run it and they didn't get in? What would we say? We should've thrown it!!
Think about it. Up until LSU, Nuss has been doing a great job and now all of a sudden, he's not? I don't think so. Our boys aren't executing (over throws, drops, fumbles, Barrett got beat a lot last night). We have regressed in the execution department big time. I don't know if its fatigue, injuries, or what, but that is the problem that is fixable and requires more focus. I'd say it's probably 80% execution and 20% play calling if you want to throw some percentages around.

I don't know about that. I don't think I've ever read or heard anyone say man we should've just thrown it, we only had to get 2 yards. Nah, this ain't a Mike Leach Texas Tech team. If Bama runs the ball 4 times from the 6 they score a TD. I don't know if they could've stopped JFF on the ensuing drive, but they would've scored a TD.

Play calling last week and last night was awful..I never coached a game in my life, but even I spotted t hat..Every run was positive and all the OC could do was think pass..makes no sense to me

I thought for sure we'd hammer them. 4 shots inside the ten and we went away from our strength. It happened several times under mcelwain also. Nuss has done an outstanding job thus far, as did mcelwain, but it's like they have brain farts sometimes. Of course, if we'd won we prolly wouldn't care.

Gonna be things we will miss about our old play calling under Coach Mac, I think he would have gotten that touchdown first and goal on the 6.
Bama has the best Line in football to go along with two solid RB's and we're playing like a team that has to depend on passing to win games (strong 2010 flashbacks). The last two games our offense hasn't been able to control the clock at all. 1st down pass,run,pass,4th down/3 and out, send the gassed defense back on the field-it's like that's happened so many times. When we have scored it's been quick drives.

THIS.
Im sitting there thinking "RUN THE BALL" we have the best OL in the nation most think...we had 4 downs to get 6 yards and he calls pass play 3 times? Do what we do best Nuss...I agree...trying to be too cute...hopefully he will learn from this

time to fire Nuss. totally unacceptable play calling lately.
we were dominating LSU with the run and had a 2 score lead to open the half....and we continue to throw the ball. our backs were averaging over 8 yards a carry and we throw the ball because Nuss wants to prove how cute he can be.
same thing when we got 1st and goal from the 6. time to prove how cute i can be. there comes a time when you ride your best players (OL, not AJ). our OL is built to get those yards.

Hindsight is 20/20. Although I think you gotta run/screen from the 6 with this team. I'm fine with the pass on 4th down, just think we should have run it on downs 1-3.

Manziel had 92 yards with two over 20 yards. Lacy had 92 on two less carries and none over 20. Give 42 the ball. That said, I will not question our coaches. Glad I do not have to make those decisions with my job on the line.

My thing is, saban preaches "physical football"
"dominate your opponent" "make his arse quit"
6 yards from pay dirt and we don't run the rock. If we run it on 4th and 2, I don't think anyone is upset with the call. We have the best run blocking line in the country and 2 great tailbacks. I feel like if we get stood up at the goal line then all of us tip our cap and say y'all deserved it. You have to respect a goal line stand, that's just man to man in the trenches and what saban has instilled in this team to pride itself on yet we have gotten away from it. I don't understand the lack of running calls nor do I understand the lack of deep balls. AJ throws a nice deep ball and bell runs a nice deep route and we run it once every other week instead of 3-4 times a game. I dunno, I just think they need to get back to the basics. Commit to the run and throw it deep more often than once every 80 plays

Remember "Darby up the middle"? We've come full circle. It was an execution problem. If Amari picks his man right then we aren't bitching right now.
