I know that Lou does not get much respect anymore. However he said something last night. that really began to describe the possibility of how Nick Saban could possibly be feeling. He said,
“Winning isn’t fun any more, its like whew we survived another week and losing is disastrous”.
Thought that was one of the best things he has said in a while

Very true.

It's what burned Spurrier out at UF.

Fans expected perfection and weren't satisfied with 10 win seasons.

We all bitch a lot but, in reality, it takes a lot of good bounces, good fortune on injuries, etc to win a championship.

I think 10 regular season wins is an outstanding year. An SEC championship is an excellent season and anything beyond is gravy.

BTW, Saban doesn't have fun regardless. He's fricking joyless.

Not exactly sure, but he was quoting someone and said something to the effect that losing is disastrous and winning a relief. Referring to successful coaches..

If Saban and the team are feeling the pressure, it is self imposed. I'm sure we have a segment of fans that expect to win every game every year but they are retarded. Alabama has been ranked #1 at some point every year during the past 5 years. We took the crystal twice. To the football program, I say: "well done."

I usually think Holtz is getting senile in his comments, but this might be true.
When you have lots of success the fan base expects perfection, and for the coach, any loss bring wrath from the fan base, and you eventually can't please people even with a 10 or in Bama's case a 11 win season.
Richt is living this right now at Georgia.

I can believe that kind of think would drive a coach to leave just from the pressure it brings.

I don't see wrath, or any expectation of perfection. Not from cooler heads.

And if I do, they are just stupid.

As I remarked to a friend yesterday, Saban carries around a little bit of the persona of Napoleon Bonaparte inside of him.

he was referring to comments that someone made to him that he interviewed that was retired and Lou was applying that same concept to ALABAMA

Have you seen how delusional 90% of your fan base is?

I think Saban himself referred to this as "Spurrieritis" when he was at LSU. The fans get spoiled that winning isn't enjoyed, it is expected. Then just winning isn't good enough..you have to dominate every opponent.
