The difference in these two games was the linebacker and defensive end play. LSU has more speed than Bama at these positions and was able to chase JFF down when he scrambled. That is, chase him down before he got a first.

LSU's defensive team speed is just better than Bama's.

I'd say it was the wind. It was extremely windy in the LSU-A&M game and both QBs looked awful bc of it. We're more a passing team than either of you so conditions like that hurt us more

This is true, but JFF is such a great athlete that Bama just couldn't catch him. LSU began "looking" for him to scramble and had the athletes to chase him down. Bama didn't. Btw, JFF is a straight up beast. He should win the Heisman.

That. And a lucky as hell bounce off the chest int. that JFF threw that was a 10-14 point swing.

All 3 games were great teams playing tough. Turnovers and a little luck were the difference in all 3 games.

I want it noted that I'm not flaming you guys anymore. JFF for Heisman. You've totally won me over. It's fun watching aTm play. And that D can bring the wood too.

Our d lineman and linebackers are all pretty big. I doubt it helps their speed.

It seemed like Bama didn't make enough adjustments to stop JFF. For a lot of the lsu a&m game, you saw 3 linemen and 2 linebackers. Seemed like bama just didnt change much at all on D.

That was a VERY lucky pick. Do you guys agree though that LSU LB's and end's are faster?

I def think LSU has a better defense than Bama but the conditions definitely changed that game.

Mett has looked terrific since and people act like he was dogshit. It was just extremely hard to pass that day. Our ability to pass on Bama, esp down the field a few times, didn't allow them to crowd the line the way LSU was able to (and to be fair, it's what our defense did all day vs LSU as well)

I noticed this too and thought WTF are they doing. And I was pulling for Bama. Yes, I admit it. I am so glad they lost though. It's weird. I hated both teams. JFF won me over though. And that's a helluva an accomplishment. Everyone here knows my deep hate for everything aTm. Well, no more.

Mett was dogshit up until the Bama game. Honestly, a lot of that was our O-line. 2 freshman starting on the same side of the line. They just didn't have it together.

Bama's D was extremely overrated this year.

STFU LSU boy. You have lost twice this year just like A&M. You are currently in 3rd place so im guessing your great defense isnt all that. Now lets talk about that shitty Offense you got.

Saban's stubbornness and refusal to play contain against Manziel allowed him to go off.

Yes, LSU had more speed on D which matched up much better against our offensive style. I was worried about Bama's depth, but LSU isn't much behind them on depth and their extra speed made the difference.

Still, the pattern mostly held between the two games. Get out in front early, get mostly shut down offensively after the elite D units adjusted. The difference was that we fought harder this time and we had a few things go our way. Oh, and JFF didn't pull any stupid freshman throws, either.
