"With the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, classes were interrupted when the entire student body from Ole Miss enlisted in the Confederate army. Their company, Company A, 11th Mississippi Infantry, was nicknamed the University Greys, and suffered a 100% casualty rate during the Civil War." I am a 1st generation American of Venezuelan decent and cannot even begin to pretend to understand what was going on here during the civil rights era since racial problems is one of the few problems the country where my parents were born do not have. Now that I know why Ole Miss were the Rebels I am very disappointed they are Now the Bears. Mistakes were made in the past but knowing that the entire student body made the ultimate sacrifice for a cause that they believed in us something that should be honored. History should not be forgotten because it is not pc.

And I am very disappointed you didn't wait until Monday to post this.

Leave it to the War Chicken/Tigerz/Plainsman/Chizz Jar fan to point this out.

Don't get me started on the war chickens, I drove by on the way to Atlanta thinking I'd make a stop and suddenly realized auburn is an actual exit on the interstate. I blinked right through it as my buddy and I made a change of plans to see what atl had to offer that night.

Amen, glad to see someone gets it. And as far as the racism thing goes; Slavery was in the north long before it was in the south. I don't condone slavery, but those who exclusively point to the south on this issue need to educate themselves.

You probably thought this was hilarious when you wrote it. At least get some original shite.

Well, we probably wouldn't have changed mascots if Col. Reb looked more like a confederate soldier and less like a plantation owner.
