There is SEC football then there is the SEC Rant

Since joining a few years ago, I have grown in knowledge about every SEC team. I have learned about players, coaches, traditions, and an abundance of rumors.
Just today though I found myself laughing at an inside joke only the Rant would understand. I saw a girl in one of our cafes coming to meet one of her friends. She had a hat on, a zip up hooded coat and a very familiar looking neck brace. Kind of like this.
but as soon as I saw her she reminded me of this....
and I started laughing inside.
The intriguing part to the whole thing was right after I saw the girl, I was standing next to someone stirring their coffee with a UF hat on. I asked him if he was a big SEC fan and he replied, "yes I am" and seemed proud about it. I then said, do you remember when bobby petrino wrecked his motorcycle? He then looked at me kind of puzzled and I said, "you know who Bobby Petrino is don't you"? I then said, "the previous head coach of Arkansas." He then said, "O yeah, I remember him now." I then said never mind.
At this point I finally realized how the rant has changed my life and my since of humor. I hope you might enjoy it as much as I did.

I know what you mean. In fact, earlier this week a girl in class asked a question that had been beaten into the ground the previous class all because she skipped or some bs like that. I wanted to scream GERMANS or DUCK so bad but I don't think anybody else would have got it
ETA: the lingo around here really only makes sense on here so it can make you look dumb if used in a public setting

Yep, I work on a marine base. The other day I was parking my car and saw a truck with an aTm sticker, and I said "I bet you jizz jars are happy with Johnny fricking Football!" He just looked at me like "WTF is this guy talking about."

I was reading a thread on the O-T about how TD made the New York Times and I then made the mistake of trying to explain to my future mother-in-law where the LSU/Corndog saying came from.

I feel like I can't even have a conversation with so called sports fans unless its on the rant. I had a guy tell me the other day that he thought Georgia had the best Defense in the nation and arguable the best linebacker in the country. I then just decided to walk away.

My only regret on TD is just not joining sooner. I herd someone say today that a recruit from Clemson committed and automatically knew who they were talking about.

This is true.
As much as folks get at each other on here there is just some intangible thing going on that makes you respect posters here. Its a load of fun. I dont think another NCAA conference could pull off a site like this honestly, although I would have paid some cash to see a Big12rant.com over the last 8 years or so, that would have been an absolute train wreck.

I never thought I would be a "message board poster" but after lurking for a while and then finally beginning to post, I hate I waited so long. The SECr has become a great escape from the realities of the adult world
