Just read this from BM over on AUC and it never occurred to me the only interception we have had this year is Bates in the linebacker corp. That is amazing that they haven't even gotten lucky and had one handed to them by this point.

Our pass rush has sucked major balls since the LSU game. I think Lemonier has packed it in, he seems content with his draft stock dropping I suppose.

ETA- What I'm trying to say is they haven't had much help, and they haven't helped themselves either.

Maybe if our CBs wouldn't play 10 yds off the ball. If you want to create turnovers, you have to be aggressive. That means playing tight coverage and making it happen.

We run press some. You can't run man every play, especially when your best CB's are freshmen and sophomores.

This is why. If we don't get pressure from our D line to the quarterback and force him to make throws, then we lower our chances of him throwing a pick and making a mistake. The corners have to look back for the ball and have good instincts as well.

one pick the first game of the year.... none since.

that's amazing we haven't even gotten lucky... with as many plays as we defend, you'd think we would've gotten luck ONE TIME.

I guess when you're always behind, the opposition has no insentive to take risks like making forward passes...

We press VERY little actually. It's a joke. But "we don't have the players to do everything we'd like", despite the highly rated classes we have had.

Was watching the 97 SEC Championship game the other night. That was 15 years ago.....our LBs way back then just LOOKED fierce and good.

And similar to what Bama did in the nat'l champ in the early 90's, Brother Bill had us rushing 10 on the line MANY times against Manning, daring him to hit a perfect pass under duress. Was beautiful.

There has been more press than last year. There have been a few chances for guys to make picks but they've just dropped them or batted them down. I agree that it all goes back to having no pass rush, especially from the middle. Also the fact that Lemonier can get near the qb and overrun him each time. It's like he has no body control.

We have not had any highly rated defensive classes. Most of our D players are 3 start talent, with a few 4 star bust in there.

If we run press and don't get a pass rush, which we haven't been, then teams wil throw for 400 a game easier than they already have been.
