Aggies how do you feel about Bryant and Stallings?

Both did very little at ATM and both had success at Bama. Bryant became the greatest coach ever to live and Stallings coached one of the greatest defenses of all time.

Learn your history. Pretty sure Bryants team would have won national championship at A&M but it got out that Bryant was leaving for Bama and Ags lost last game that year.

Lets not discuss would of, could of and should of. Just stick to what really happened

you said both had little success at A&M, Ags were favored to win NC under him. I think A&M was 9-0 or 10-0 when word got out he was leaving.

Your question made it sound as if A&M had 7-4 type seasons under Bryant.

IF NC is the barometer then say it. If that is the case, then no success whatsoever. Complete and absolute failure under Bryant and Stallings.

There you go.

I am certainly no Aggie, but the A&M fans I know consider Stallings an Aggie through and through.

Absolutely. Bryant and Stallings are about as highly regarded at A&M as they are anywhere.

Lots of history with both. Considered "family" by most of us.

I have a book at our house titled "The Bear". Signed by Bear Bryant to my father back around 1976. Displayed in our study today.

He was only at A&M for 4. From Junction boys going 1-9 to SWC conference champions 2 years later, to National Championship contender in year 4. Also had a heisman winner while he was there. Guess you are right, he really didn't really accomplish anything at A&M.

FYI
"The Aggies suffered through a grueling 1-9 initial season which began with the infamous training camp in Junction, Texas. The “survivors” were given the name “Junction Boys.” Two years later, Bryant led the team to the Southwest Conference championship with a 34–21 victory over the University of Texas at Austin. The following year, 1957, Bryant's star back John David Crow won the Heisman Trophy (the only Bryant player to ever earn that award), and the Aggies were in title contention until they lost to the #20 Rice Owls in Houston, amid rumors that Alabama would be going after Bryant"

We love RC, the Bear, and (especially after the SEC move) Stallings. Some love Jackie, some don't.

We all hate Fran forever. He gave us some first round talent and that is all. Wasted a decade.

Same here and I agree with this.

Stallings was on the Board of Regents when the first (recent) round of discussions about A&M leaving the Big 12 was taking place. Many Aggies and Aggie fans believe he had a lot to do with A&M NOT going to the PAC and laying the groundwork for A&M ultimately leaving for the SEC.

Lets be real here, its not like Bear is a legend at Texas A&M. He wasn't here for long. I would say that Jackie Sherill is highly regarded by the vast majority of Aggies.
