What happened should have never have happened. Bonfire is not over, however. It's just off campus, and smaller.

Big thing that pisses me off about us is the loss of bonfire. It is a huge piece of being an ag. However, we placed the value of tradition higher than that of safety. Just because bonfire was built without plans originally, we insisted on doing that way for eternity. We are an engineering. School for Christ's sake!!! Plans would have saved lives and kept one of the top 3 biggest ag traditions of all time alive. God bless those who lost loved ones, and those who passed in our greatest tragedy.

i really wish i got to witness it. a damn shame what happened. and in case people havent realized it, you can make fun of the ags for our yells, the corps, or the yell leaders. but bonfire is off limits

I was at northgate when it fell. It is not a subject we joke about considering all the dead students.

The memorial to those students is very well done. It's tough to keep a dry eye when you spend time there though.

Watch burning desire that fox sports did, better than the modern marvels one from a personal / traditions / feelings perspective, marvels does a good piece on explaining what happened.

For all intents and purposes, yes it is. The off-campus one isn't 1/50th of what the on-campus one was. Makes you think what would have happened to an on-campus Bonfire during the SEC move.

It was held where stack fell. The center pole is marked in the memorial I believe.

I saw the last bonfire to burn on campus my senior year of high school, and was a freshman in Schumacher dorm (unfortunately that dorm wasn't yet coed)when it fell. I was woken up by people running around banging on doors to come help and of course went to stack as soon as I could. Words can't explain the emotions of that morning/day/week.

And yes, the memorial is an amazing design and hard to keep a dry eye when visiting. The 12 doors face the hometowns of the 12 dead.
