Jhonathon Williams now rated at 85 (was rated at 81) on 247. His stock is only going to continue to rise.

Yeah, Ross looks great. I love these Georgia recruits we're bringing in.

how this Walters kid is only rated a 2 star is beyond me??? kids got game. I think when all is said and done, this may end up being one of Pinkel and staffs' best classes. certainly in terms of identifying some of the under the radar talent that should be a good fit for the system.

Nate Brown offered by Georgia. Doesn't sound like it changes anything. 100% mizzou. Pete S. Agrees he should be a 4* by now
Posted on 11/16/13 at 12:38 pm to Mizzou23
While he is not a 4* at rivals, he is a 4* at 247.

There's an interview with him on 247 where he says he hates UGA.

I hope not!! He's another one of my favorites in this class. We need him to help replace the seniors we're losing.

At some point, I think we have to recognize that Pinkel may be one of the best evaluators of football talent in the country. That may sound hyperbolic, but I don't think it actually is.

On 9/27, just prior to the Arkansas State game, 3star unranked DE Jhonny Williams from Berrian Springs MI committed to Mizzou with little fanfare or coverage.
Suddenly this week, he's a hot commodity. Notre Dame, which is only about 20mi from Berrian Springs just offerred Jhonny. Three days later, Michigan has now offered.
How is it that a school like ND is just now figuring out a kid within a long bicycle ride is worth offering? How is it the state school of Michigan is just now finding this kid? Surely it isn't because he committed to Missouri, or is it? Will Rivals now give him a fourth star?
btw- Danario Alexander grew up 20mi south of Baylor. Baylor offered within a week of Danario commiting to Mizzou.

I don't think it's that they're just find out about him. They missed on their top targets, and he's in their 2nd tier. He was first tier for us.
Just like Georgia offering Nate Brown late in the game. They missed on who they wanted, and he's their second choice.
Hope these kids realize this, and stick with our coaches, who wanted them when they didn't have any other top-quality offers.

Well, "the system" definitely does work. Not sure how many of you guys remember the MANY years predating HCGP when being a Mizzou football fan didn't offer too many opportunities to leave a game with a smile -- but the staff has consistently recruited and developed talent very well.
Many fans just look at recruiting rankings and, while on field success has allowed easier access to higher ranked athletes, why would we want the staff to stop finding future stars that other teams overlook?
As you say, I think more fans are recognizing this, but it's difficult since the entire college football world puts so much emphasis on rankings. Just as there are still some fans who don't think the move to the SEC was the BEST MOVE EVER AND WHO EVEN CARES ANYMORE ABOUT GAMES WITH THAT OTHER KU!!!, there is another larger group of fans who still rely more on ntl ranking services to evaluate Mizzou's classes, when on the field success is really the ultimate evaluation factor.

I can't speak for ND, but UM knew what and who he was. They were going after bigger fish and lost out. Within hours of losing out they moved on to plan B and offered Williams.

Exactly. Hope these kids realize they were our Plan A, not the backup, and stick with Mizzou.
