Lacy and Yeldon averaged 7.2 per carry against LSU. I wonder why we seemed to get away from pounding the ball when we were having that kind of success?

It was infuriating. Had we kept pounding the ball it would have been a blow out.

It blew my mind that we were calling plays as if we were playing from behind, even when we were still up 14-3. I was thinking "just run the fricking ball." Nussmeir had a herp derp moment, but that last drive more than made up for it.

After the way the first half ended, I didn't have a problem starting the 2nd half throwing (3-and-out though).

Next drive Lacy lost 6 yds on 1st. His big run after that just set up a 3rd down passing situation.

Next drive we only ran the ball, but fumbled.

The next drive we only rushed once, for no gain. The run wasn't really working like it had in the 1st half.

After that we never rushed again, but we only had two more drives. The coaches seemed to want to put the game on AJ's shoulders.

"The offensive gameplan, especially in the second half, reminded me so much of the 2010 Iron Bowl. When we came out with the 14-3 lead, we needed to run every 1st down, instead of trying to pass (which we hadn't done all night) "

I am still a little suspect of Nuss. Seems to have the McElwain disease where he'd rather impress everyone with his offensive genius than simply win the game. I don't know how many times in the last five years (including this one) Bama will have one of those 10+ play drives where you can tell the opposing D is ready to pack it in. Our D will get a quick 3 & out or TO. Then what does our offense do? Yup, 4-wide shotgun.

I definitely agree we should have been running the ball a lot more this game bc as its been said and seen, that's where we were having success. But let's not forget that since Mcelwain we have prided ourselves as a balanced offense. Before the final drive we had more rushing attempts than passes. We finished the game with 25 rushes (should have been more i agree) and 27 pass attempts. 166 rushing yards and 165 passing yards. Lets not come down too heavy on Nuss.

While I think we should have pushed the running game, I have been pretty pleased with Nussmeier so far. He has greatly improved our red zone offense which has paid handsome dividends this year because this year's defense, while very good, isn't even in the same galaxy with the defense last year. I like the idea of being balanced but against a team like LSU that can match us athlete for athlete, stay with the hot hand and just win the damn game.
