It'd be nice to see a list of possibles including the unlikely ones with maybe a little bio or link to bio would be great.

TIA

Being serious for a sec, if we don't go after Patterson, I'll have zero faith in our school hiring a competent HC.

My personal opinion on the order of likelyhood at this point

Jeff Fisher/Jimbo Fisher
Gary Patterson
Bobby Petrino
Gus Malzahn
Charlie Strong
Willie Taggart

Am I missing anybody?

Someone might try to hire Mike Riley away from Oregon State.

Pretty much this

IMO, Fisher is probably more Sexton than anything and Petrino is speculation/wishful thinking moreso than a realistic candidate

Also, could someone explain where Jeff Fisher comes in? I know his son plays for the team but he's doing decent in St. Louis and could probably eke out another NFL job even of things went south there

IDK. He's never coached in college, and that would scare me. What if he coaches a year at AU and doesn't like it? Patterson should be #1 target, IMO.

Speculation on who Tate's big candidate is. The ram's GM has Auburn ties which fuels the fire. I seriously doubt he would come. I don't know if I would want him over some of the college coaches right now anyways. I love him as a coach but he's never been in the college game to my knowledge and I don't know if he would like recruiting.

I think a lot of reporters will throw names out there like Fisher (Jeff & Jimbo) for page clicks but I'm getting the vibe that this sear will be like the Chizik hire in that it will be the least expected candidate. Hopefully, we get better long-term results this time around

However, I will totally take a another one-year wonder of it guarantees a NC within the next 2 years

My understanding now is that he was one of those coaches we contacted just to make them say no, but he didn't... And we're prepared to offer the AD job to the GM of the Rams, Les Snead (who played on the '93 team) to help get him here.

This is 100% coming from the Bunker, I haven't heard anything irl about it.

Yeah . . . Soooo, the next few weeks will be a roller coaster ride of rumors and as stated above I would not be shocked if we ended up keeping Chizik - FML
