What's the story on Wallace? It appears he looked as good as anyone has for Auburn last weekend. I understand that he ran early and threw mostly late. Did anyone get a good look at his progress or was this the equivalent of the #Dakfense that we saw from the Grinders this weekend.

*Also in a bit of gloating, Wallace has put up better numbers than Frazier did last year, debunking the so-called you can't contribute or play competently in your first year in the SEC or as a freshmen in the SEC myth that was spouted this summer.

Most of his yards come on zone read against 2nd and 3rd stringers. His passes looked more or less good. I'd say he's a certain upgrade however...my guess is Chizik held him for ego reasons (he didn't want to pull a Sherman and change QBs a bit too late I guess)

I figured it had to be like that, but let's be honest, A&M's first stringers aren't keeping everyone out of the endzone in the first place.

If I remember correctly, I believe Auburn's first TD drive came with Wallace in the game against our 1's, and the 2nd drive was I think a combination of 1's and 2's, although I could be mistaken. I can't remember for sure when we subbed in our 3rd string backup safety that got repeatedly torched by Blake.

Regardless, he looked like a very good player and should have been starting for Auburn the entire year, IMO. Hopefully the Chiz will grow some brain cells and start him this week.

I'm sort of getting a box score look

Auburn C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT
Wallace 6/9 122 13.6 2 0

Did he appear accurate? Were they easy throws? That is a lot of yardage on 6 completions.

Let's be honest, our other two options at QB wouldn't look that good against air.

One was a short pass to Uzomah that he ended up taking to the house after the catch. That really helps his numbers.

They've been giving Wallace the Burns/Frazier freshman treatment (i.e. play him a lot but never let him throw.)

But if we suck this bad, why not let him throw? If you already burned his redshirt, let the kid learn already!

Might want to check Blake's stat line in 2nd half with Wallace in the game.

Forgot about Uzoma tearing through our backup secondary as well. We need some serious help at the safety position.

Yup and after Mosley got hurt and hearing Frazier was "75-80%" , I was praying someone had the balls to put wallace in and actualy let him pass it. Boy was I wrong

.

I'm with you, but he did complete twice as many passes last week as Frazier did all of last year on less attempts. I'm hoping he can get things righted on the plains.

We've had a large contingent of our fanbase that have wanted to see him get a shot after we played MSU.

It was pretty obvious how bad the QB situation was at that point.

Johnathan Wallace has thrown as many touchdowns in a quarter and a half of football as Frazier has thrown in the ENTIRE career at AU with zero picks... I think that tells you all you need to know.

I remember posting after the LSU game asking the AU posters, if Wallace is the running QB what exactly does Frazier do? Is he the thrower? If you give Frazier's run plays to Wallace, I didn't really see what the point of playing Frazier was.

What do you expect from a coaching staff that pulls Wallace the next play after completing a 20 yard first down pass and reinserting Frazier? I can't wait until this staff is run out of town...

Until then, I grind on. The AU athletic programs in general are unwatchable right now..

That awkward moment when the third-string 3* true freshman is the best QB on the team.

That tells me:
1) This coaching staff can't develop a quarterback
2) Recruitung rankings mean very little
3) For whatever reason, we aren't putting the best players on the field
4) Our best players are freshmen

Is he the best qb named Wallace in the SEC?
