I certainly respect and admire the LSU program under Les Miles. I have been to a Bama v. Lsu game atTiger Stadium at night and have witnessed a college football fanbase that is both passionate and unique. There is no doubt that it is one of the most raucous scenes associated with collegiate sports. This question is not a flame but an honest inquiry.

LSU has some ridiculous record of only 1 loss in TS at night under Miles. Is this phenomenal record due as much to the CBS contract (first pick of SEC games, 2:30 kick) as it is to the Myth of the Bayou Bengals' invincibility when playing a night game in TS?

The games against the highest ranked teams would almost always be played at 2:30 on CBS. This is kind of like the patsies Bama used to play at BDS when they still played their biggest games in Bham.

Bama's great record in BDS back in the day was due far more to the lower tier opponent than some home field advantage in Tuscaloosa. Can the same be said for the night game at TS scenario?

A lot of it does have to do with CBS, but LSU has played in a good amount of "big" night games to where it would be considered a fair reputation.

So basically, your question is, "Can Bama best LSU in a night game @ Tiger Stadium?"

Yep, most of the "good games" are moved to the CBS slot, but some good games have still been played at night. UF in '07 for instance.

In my youth the big games were almost always at night in TS. Hence the reputation and the record didn't quite match. The plethora of TV outlets and network has mangled this. I'm surprised we didn't play Towson at night and UA at 2:30 this year...fortunately this won't be the case.

Miles just wins a lot of games....basically.

Maybe what I am really asking is what is Lsu's record in homes games under Miles in that 2:30 time slot? These games would more accurately reflect how much of a home field advantage you have in TS.

I realize your team will draw more energy from the night crowd but I would expect that your record against the best opposition would be a better metric to use for this game.

I hope you consider the #1 ranked team your best opposition.

you really just don't understand how different it is, regardless of opponent.

To answer your question though, i think Miles is like 50-5 overall at home.

I have a friend who works in BR radio, I just sent him this thread to read on the air the day of the game. He'll of course use journalistic license to make it as inflammatory as possible.

Someone posted that Saban since 2007 was 8-8 versus SEC opponents with over a .500 conference winning %. I wonder what Les' home winning % is against teams who are over .500 in the SEC?

Nope... 2007 UF @ LSU.

That place is nuts. Just as loud, if not slightly louder, than the Swamp.

The one thing I cant wait for Bama to destroy is the myth of Tiger Stadium at night.. What a great record, against a few good teams. I hope the stadium is packed more than ever to witness the absolute destruction of an average team by a true Championship Dynasty.. LSU fans should feel blessed to watch such a juggernaut perform again in their home state.. It will basically be an exhibition after 2 1/2 quarters

Actually he has lost 2 at night in TS. The 2005 UT game caused LSU fans to specify "Saturday night games"

Notable home night games under Miles (Final ranking and record):

2005:
Tennessee (5-6) - Loss
#14 Auburn (9-3) - Win

2006:
Bama (6-7) - Win

2007:
#9 Virginia Tech (11-3)- Win
#14 Florida (9-4)- Win
#15 Auburn (9-4) - Win

2009:
#3 Florida (13-1) - Loss
Auburn (8-5) - Win
Arkansas (8-5) - Win

2010
#15 MSU (9-4) - Win
#22 WVU (9-4) - Win

Thanks for your response. The 2009 Florida win is a very comparable contest to the game next week.

Looking at that list does not seem quite so intimidating. I am sure it will be an incredible atmosphere and a slugfest of a game.
