We’ve added up the opponents’ records (FBS foes only) for all 14 teams and also noted how many of their opponents currently have winning records and how many of their opponents are currently ranked in the BCS standings.

What immediately jumps out at you is that the four teams with the toughest schedules all have losing records. In fact, six of the seven toughest schedules to this point belong to teams with losing records. Texas A&M is the only team in that group with a winning record.

Alabama and Mississippi State, who meet this Saturday in Tuscaloosa, are both unbeaten. But between them, they've faced just one opponent ranked this week in the BCS standings. Alabama beat No. 22 Michigan 41-14 to open the season.

auburn doesn't play aubuurn

Not all teams with losing records have the same schedule, so this is a stupid circular argument.

Example
TN sucks, but not as bad as their record shows, so good teams showing a crappier schedule, because they beat TN is chicken/egg. This will get sorted out at the end of the season.

This is some dumbass logic. By definition losers have a tougher schedule because most of the teams on their schedule have a better record than they do.

We also get Mizzou, UK, and Vandy in November. It will sort itself out. Oct has been a brutal stretch, no doubt, but that's every year.

Part of ours as well is Louisville being ranked, Western Kentucky playing very well, and even Kent State being bowl eligible.

But we routinely have one of the toughest schedules, at least in conference. Next year is going to be even worse in terms of SOS. I think our rotating West opponents for the last 5-6 years have routinely been in the mNC conversation when we've had them this season being the exception only because of Petrino leaving. We had Auburn with Cam, LSU in 2007, Alabama, and would've had Arkansas in possibly a season that they could've made a real run had Petrino not been let go.

You probably wont get credit for losing to Texas and beating Auburn. . . something to do with Mack Brown being a mentor to Chizik

A scientific study showed that the ones who lose the most has the toughest schedule. And the ones who win have the easiest...well after the fact anyway.

Having looked at UGA's schedule I'm surprised they're in the top 14.
