So I did a little research and this is where the QB's in the top of the class from 2009 are currently. Rankings are from Scout.com but the exact number is largely irrelevant. Information is for 2012 season only and is presented as listed by HS QB rank, name, current team, passing yards, passing TD's, completion percentage, interceptions thrown, and sacks given up. Some of them I didn't list info on for obvious reasons. If I didn't list the stats I put where they now are as far as I know.

Rank. Name. Team. PY TD. %. INT. Sacks
1. Matt Barkley. USC. 1775. 22. 65.7. 6. 8
2. Russell Shepard. LSU. --------- plays some WR----------
3. Aaron Murray. UGA. 1914. 16. 65.3. 4. 12
5. Garett Gilbert. Texas ------------ xfered to SMU-------
11. Tyrik Rollison. Auburn ----------- bench? --------------
12. Geno Smith. WV. 2414. 26. 74.2. 2. 16
13. Tyler Russell. MSU. 1573. 15. 60.1. 1. 6
14. Zack Mett. LSU ----------well .. You know-----------
17. AJ McCarron. Bama. 1476. 16. 68.8. 0. 14
22. Raymond Cotton. Ole Miss. ------ bench? ---------------
27. Chris Garett. LSU. -------left team ------------------

Just thought it was interesting to look back on. Things that stuck out to me, Only 2 of the top 5 are currently seeing the field. TR has the lowest completion percentage but takes by far the least amount of sacks as a result. It doesn't appear to be important at all to get pressure on AJ and the best way to attack their O may be to plug the run, lock down the WR's and say frick the QB pressure. Houston Nutt either destroyed Cotton's career or he just didn't pan out, and LSU is where good high school QB's go to die. It's also interesting that 3 of the top 30 QB's that year came from Mississippi.

When you're the third string quarterback at a division 2 squad, then you have nobody to blame but yourself.

So he didn't pan out, where is he playing now? It's a shame, that kid had talent.

I'm amazed he takes that many sacks and hasn't thrown a pick, it would seem as if everyone's game plan has been to pressure him in the pocket which has no noticeable effect and certainly doesn't produce turnovers like you would assume. Hopefully our coaches pick up on this and have something else in mind.

Also worth noting that Aaron Murray broke David Greene's record for TD's in a career last Saturday. That's beyond insane when you consider he still has 6 games (maybe 7) left this season and could come back for his senior eyar and shatter every UGA QB record on the books, as well as most SEC QB records

That is impressive. As much as it hurts to say it JFF is going to destroy all of these if he starts for 4 years.

I'd say most of AJ's sacks have happened because he held onto the ball for way too long.

I'm serious. Go look at the WKU game where we had 6 sacks. He had pretty good protection, but when you hold it for 6-8 seconds you are going to get sacked.
