Charley Molnar quotes (the UMass coach):

quote:

On the opportunity to play Vanderbilt on the road this coming weekend "Any time you go out-of-conference you are carrying the banner for the MAC and we know we will have a lot of eyes on us with just the fact that we are playing an SEC team that beat Auburn last week is enough to get everybody excited. I know our guys are ready to play football, even after the game [against Bowling Green] I could tell our guys were disappointed but not discouraged. The morale was good - no one likes to lose and we certainly didn't taking losing easy but I think our guys will come back, practice hard and be ready to play."

On measuring the status of the program 2/3rds of the way through the season "I am looking at every game as an opportunity to win. Every game is a teaching moment to teach our guys how to do everything right during the course of the week - how to use their time effectively at practice and off the field. Whenever you play in a bigger venue with a louder crowd that is against you, what you are really doing is preparing your team for the big games you will play as you venture forward. Playing at Vanderbilt is a different kind of pressure, but never-the-less it's an intense setting that will help our guys as they go forward and as we start playing bigger and more meaningful games in the Mid-American Conference where we are competing for an Eastern Division Championship."

I'm getting ready to be there at Vanderbilt Stadium.

I wouldn't mind going up to Foxborough for next year either. This will hopefully be a blowout, and I'm expecting JR to get some time to build up his confidence. Then, ACS or Robinette might step in if it's well in hand.

Should be a pretty big day for Stacy and Rodgers. Should be a good vaulting point where Vandy can win the rest of their games on the schedule. Not saying it'll be a 8-4 season, just that isn't not out of the question.

Hoping for a lot of these faces on the UMass sideline after the game Saturday:

He is aware Auburn is a bit under the weather this year right?

I am still trying to get used to Umass in the MAC and Temple back in the Big East. I feel the gods will favor the Dores in a mighty smite down of the barbarians from the north.

I'm sure he is, but he is heading up an 0-7 MAC team...

Hopefully we get in a position to see some of the younger guys this week particularly at RB (Kimbrow), WR and in the secondary. Anxious to see some of those guys in action.

I think you can count on it, barring a major meltdown. Would be really nice to get guys out early and have this be almost a bye week as far as our normal starters are concerned. To which end: does Carta-Samuels get another start at QB this week?

I think our normal starters will stick around for a half to build up confidence in the passing game before going on the road for two weeks. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the new linemen get reps so that they can develop.
